Format for 100.3 in August will be....?

My bet is Country. Why would Pirkle hire Brantley to do anything other than Country?

The 80/20 rule applies. Ed is 80% management/programming/on air/sales/front man/and anything else the company needs. The other 20% is country. In this case, Johnny gets either 80% or 100%. How often does Sr/Jr play for only 80%? There's a 15 on one station relatively uncontested. And Ed was behind much of that 15.

I'm with Coach Battle on this one.

We can debate different economic theories until the cows come home, and we can debate that this debate is in fact nothing more than the 90-90-1 principle in full effect, but at the end of the day Ed's 80% is the only percentage that matters. His game, his rules and his game is making money by gaining listeners and the primary way to that in this market is either C-H-R or ROCK-AND-ROLL.

They could call it John-Ed 100

I realize I'm new around here, but why the assumption that Ed Brantley isn't capable of managing/selling/jocking any format other than country?

Mainly it's because he was a key player in building a country station into a national treasure only to be run out of the building without so much as a thank you so some ******bags in another state could retire a little more comfortably and screw over a building full of people in Knoxville, Tennessee and eventually its listeners in the process.

Ed Brantley could play African tribal music on 100.3 at 20% power while playing the bongo drums and smoking dope and still draw a sizable audience, while making people want to buy African tribal music CD's and bongs and he'll make money doing it. It's the only format that hasn't been mentioned here, so that's probably what he'll play. It may take him awhile to get used to the ganja, though. And they'll have to set up a remote studio in Jamaica, because he won't do it in a location where he'll be breaking the law.

In the meantime, the people who screwed him over will be long gone and it will eventually settle in with them what they did. I just hope it doesn't hurt the people on Old Kingston Pike any more than it already has.

Yep, it's Thursday and I'm drinking again. Must be some kind of pattern.

And seriously, it could be any one of a half dozen formats. Ed can do them all. And don't rule out that this could quickly go to a two station group with the addition of 94.3. Then they could acquire more stations as the out of town groups start to get weak-kneed.

Stay tuned amigos!

Paul O'Malley stood up in a Knoxville cluster meeting earlier today and stated that his mole has confirmed that WNOX (that's 100.3 for
those of you playing the home game) is in fact going country.

The lineup is:

5:30-9am - Ed Brantley
9-12pm - Bob Kennedy
12-3 - Midday Merry-Go-Round
3-6 - Gunner (after all the Pirkle boys did for Ted and their vow to make him a star he's going to finally pay them back)
6-10 - Flyin Brian
10 - 5:30 am - TBA

Where is Blue Ridge Bob in the lineup?
6-10 - Flyin Brian
10 - 5:30 am - TBA

Bill,

B. Ridge could not afford the pay cut. 850 is taking care of the guy big time and molding him into something that will impress even those with the most cynical minds.

A reliable source has reported to me that Pirkle has come across a treasure trove of old Ktown recordings. Jonathan is busy splicing bits and pieces of air check tapes to make complete musical shows.

The stations line up will include:

"Good Music" programs with Big Jim Hess, Jim Clark, Claude the Cat, etc.

The Mid Day Merry-go-Round

The Cas Walker Farm and Home Hour

Afternoon gospel with Harry Morgan

The Shadow and Inner Sanctum and other dramas will rotate in the late afternoon.

Mull's Singing Convention will finish out the evening.

Larry King reruns from his Mutual days will fill out the overnight period.

Sunday afternoons will have preachers galore and Arthur Wilkerson will be on hand to fill in for any preachers who fail to show up.

Sports chores will be handled by Jim Holiday and News will be covered by Ron Ashburn and Paul Oscar Anderson.

Here's my guess: If Johnny/Ed are in an "eff with 'em" mood, they'll stick with the Conservative Talk Format until Election Day just to clean up on the Election Cycle Ad Revenue, then they'll bring on a Live and Local airstaff and put a real New Country Station on against WIVK.

AM Drive Maybe Don Imus he's probably better than Bill Bennett.
9-12 Glenn Beck Live
12-3 John Gibson (If they're allowed to re-run Beck, they should to go up against Rush)
3-6 Dave Ramsey (Sorry Phil, this TN Boy can run circles around you.)
6-9 Laura Ingraham/Jason Lewis

I think that the Fu Lu Shou will stay the course and really shake up the market.

Meanwhile, on 98.7... It's the premiere of Morgan County Trading Post on the HHH morning show.

Not a bad idea, especially if 100 is keeping the WNOX calls. Hello diary confusion!

Never going to happen. Mike Hammond and Catherine Howell are far too intelligent for something like that to happen to them.

And now, if you'll place your Stanton 825-DEV on the second groove of "Purple" by "The Stone Temple Pilots" we'll being today's lesson.

Any lessons that require Vaseline, I will pass on thank you very much.

Well, we know Ed is going to be on the air so we can deduce that it's going to be country.

The only real question that remains is where are they going to be located and who else have they stolen from the frog station?

The studios are behind O'Charleys on Kingston Pike next to the Old Kingston Towne Center. Look for the Danka sign out front, and the brand new black satellite dish on the roof...
