KXKL/Denver Parts Ways With The "Kool Morning Krew"
CBS RADIO Oldies KXKL (KOOL 105)/DENVER parts ways with the "KOOL MORNING KREW," meaning JJ McKAY, RICK 'COACH' MARSHALL, News Dir. STEVE ALEXANDER and Prod. NICK TOENJES have all been released.

What's next for mornings on KOOL? Well, all we know is that sister Hot AC WWMX (MIX 106-5)/BALTIMORE "KENNY AND JO JO" morning co-host KENNY CAMPBELL will be part of it. VP/Programming KEITH ABRAMS is in search of the rest of the show. There are two on-air opportunities; one for a "host/quarterback" role in the show and the other for a co-host/traffic reporter position. The morning show producer gig is also up for grabs.

"Nephew" Kenny Campbell as he was known on WLTF with Trapper Jack was my instructor at the Connecticut School (now OCB). Great talent and a nice guy.
______________

Always wondered what happened to that guy... good to hear that he's got a gig. I remember on LTF, he and Trapper Jack managed to do an intelligent and entertaining FM morning show without resorting to toilet humor... what a concept!

Trapper and Kenny were top 3, if not #1, for many years.
______________

The former owners of 106.5 were quite arrogant.... and they decided that they could do without Kenny (first) and later without Trapper. Back then WLTF's shares were pushing double digits and had damn near every number in the book when it came to Women 25-54. The rest is history. Today, WDOK (with Trapper) owns the AC franchise with 6's and 7's and 106.5 is a virtual no-show. By the way, these are the same programming geniuses that decided that 1100 could grown an audience without the Indians and keep their news image by running Imus In The Morning. It took a big wad of dollars to lure the Indians back, a call letter change and a lot of work to undo the damage they did at 1100. As for 106.5.... ten years later and they're still trying to figure out what they want to be this week.
