Re: Fort Walton Beach Move-swap
Why is WTKE still sports? I'd guess because the average spotrate is in the 30 dollar range, which would buy you a full schedule on all of quantums stations.
And it's soooooo good to see someone with no knowledge of the situation like dear Brian there weighing in. You aren't a sports fan, and are talking to people in your building about what sports stations they listen to? And then mis-identify them. Myself, when I'm in the Florida panhandle, I listen to WFAN and KTCK for sports.
The quantum koolaid is good huh? You know you are on the block for sale.
I worked for Ron for a long time, and I'll say he was more up-front with me than my Tours of Duty with any other radio station. I'd work for him again, and when all the moving and shaking is done, I just might.
I know WTKE's local talent are a pair of guys with experience in syndication, Memphis and Birmingham, and the guy that just left did so only because he got about a 30k raise. Not too shabby, and hard to maintain talent of their level by being just a complete jerk. If you are loyal, then Ron is loyal back.
In the deal quantum tried to pull a fast one, and it bit them. Now they are cutting the market.
And I know Ron well enough to know that the Pensacola listener won't be abandoned. But I specifically asked not to know stuff like that once I left.
...and people have been calling for the demise of the ticket since 1999. I would quit holding my breath.
