FOX 5's Amanda Davis Arrested

I heard that Amanda was fired today at Fox 5. Can anyone confirm?

If she was, then that's a shame. That's not a defense of Amanda - wrong is wrong. This whole situation just sucks. Reminds me of Warren Savage's and Roy Hobbs' issues with substance abuse.

She hit someone head-on, injured them, totalled his car from what the pictures on wsbtv.com look like. The last arrest for her, had her daughter in the car. She obviously has a problem and unless the station works a deal where she goes into rehab and then does a story interview when she completes the program with public announcements, she is history with Atlanta TV viewers.

WAGA won't want someone like Amanda on their team with the kind of publicity she has just gotten. She is probably doing what Russ Minshew did with WSB. They had a period of negotiations right after his 1986 trial for allegedly soliciting something (don't want to get in trouble with the web master with disclosing what, even though it was all over the Atlanta news). Once Cox Communications and Russ reached a legal agreement, a formal on-air announcement was made that they had mutually decided he would not return to the air there. Do it once, most TV stations forgive. Do it again and this time much more serious, they show you their lawyer and the door.

Newsblues keeps updating the situation daily and she has been missing 15 days

I noticed this weekend on a promo for the news announcing all of their anchor they had Lisa Rayam .... but did not include Amanda Davis. Tres interesante.

I like Lisa Rayam. She fits in perfectly on the 6pm and 10pm news. Now on the other hand, Ron Gant on Good Day Atlanta, uhhh.

The Ron Gant hire was ploy to trump up their pull for a number of demographic groups specific to the Atlanta market.

I think it is a bit tacky that WSB keeps updating this 'news'. Alcoholism is a disease, isn't that the accepted norm in society now. No defense here for anyone, but come-on...lay-off. Where is the peer respect?

WSB lumps her accident with the rest of the "wrong-way" drivers. She didn't drive the wrong way on the freeway. She crossed the center line on a surface street. WSB still featured her picture prominently when they were talking about a different subject entirely.

And she should be treated like the rest of the wrong way drivers and her competitors should be on top of this story daily!! I hope she stays off Atlanta TV forever! As someone who has been involved in a drunk driver accident, I feel no pain for this woman.

Don't get me wrong. I am not defending her. I hate drunk drivers more than a backwood southern judge (whatever that means..just came to me ::)).

I watch WSB news, and it seems that story, or an update, is reported on more than any other drunk-road incident, which ATL seems to have of lately.

I just can't stop believing a lot of it is due to 'competitive righteousness'. Which, IMO, is a bit tacky, taking advantage of a sad situation
