Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2

If 21st Century FOX doesn't get carriage agreements for those four major pay TV providers in the next few days, this launch will be quite the flop...

Actually Fox might be counting on the terrible Speed Reality Loop of Pain to drive people to call their cable providers and get those carriage agreements sealed up, especially race fans who won't be happy to see non-stop Drag Race U loops instead of their NASCAR qualifiers; it worked before as viewers asked for the Fox Reality loop to stop once it was turned to National Geographic Wild. Also worse comes to worse, some FS1 programming is also getting play on FS2/Fuel in off time slots for further encouragement. In that case the old viewers wanting extreme sports coverage were chased off months ago when the agreements for those programs ended and it went all-UFC.

FS1 got a deal done with the 3 biggest holdouts...

This is but the opening salvo, but ESPNs per subscriber rates have peaked. Within three years, a cable system can credibly not carry ESPN because of the alternatives.

ESPN will still carry the highest fee, but at the next major renewal they may get their first decrease perhaps in their history. If not then, then a few years down the road.

Fox Sports Exec VP & Exec Producer Scott Ackerson said the net will be a success "if people watch."

This from one of the SBD articles shared above. Well, DUH! What a profound statement. Couldn't have figured that one out. Really ace reporting and commenting there.

That article was good though as it noted that Fox has the resources to compete for the events and represents a threat on cable to ESPN that few others can muster.

Last thing shown as Speed: Mike Joy with a goodbye.
First thing shown as FS1: Curt Menifee with a welcome, followed by a College Football show.
Whole thing smoothly handled.

BTW: According to the dish Network program guide, here's what you get if you're on one of the few outlets that doesn't carry FS1 yet. It's on a six-hour cycle and a three-day rotation (Eastern Time):
6:00 AM Barrett-Jackson Automobile Auction (Scottsdale)
7:00 AM Pass Time Doubleheader
8:00 AM See below
11:00 AM Unique Whips
12:00 N - See 6 AM (Cycle starts over)

The 8 to 11 AM section rotates daily between these shows (first day to third day, all doubleheaders as appropriate):
5:00 AM Pumped, R.U. Faster Than A Redneck, Car Science
6:00 AM Wrecked, Drag Race High, Stuntbusters
7:00 AM Hard Parts: South Bronx, Pinks, Speedmakers

The block then reverts to the first day’s lineup at 6 AM on the fourth day, and so on, until the video provider either starts carrying FS1 or drops the channel altogether.

There was a glitch on my end, they still showed speed programming for a few minutes and then the screen went blank and then Fox Sports 1 debuted.

Charter glitched out in Wisconsin with FS1; I can get the SD channel without a problem, but the HD channel is still out statewide. I tried to record the last few minutes of Speed with my TiVo but the glitch killed it with a 'no signal detected' error.

Fox Soccer News ends this weekend.

In related news...

Fox Soccer News ends this weekend. It is airing simultaneously on Fox Soccer and Fox Soccer Plus. There are no reairings scheduled as in the past.

Did FOX Sports 1 get bumped up to basic cable anywhere? As FOX Sports 1 is still on digital cable. So if one of your TVs in your house are hooked straight to cable your out of luck. This is where ESPN wins as their on basic cable everywhere.

Nothing on broadcast during Summer. AMC could have had 50 viewers and won the night.

Well, not "basic" as that equates with economy in the COMCAST world, which tends to mean all the locals, all the shopping, all the religious, and the CSPANs.  About six weeks ago, Channel 408 (great placement!) became available on the second tier (preferred?), moving from the "sports tier", which was always a separate buy-in.  408 switched to FS1 as of today, and is now letterboxed on old-style 4X3 TVs.  Channel 401 is still Fox Soccer, and it became available on the second tier about three weeks ago. Presumably it will morph to FXX after Labor Day weekend.

In the Comcast world in CA, you cannot have "basic" cable anymore.  Everything is digital and requires a box/cablecard.

But yes, FS1 will be part of the second tier and up.  Most would call this tier "basic" as it includes the CNN/ESPN/TBS/TNT/HGTV type channels that have been part of cable for decades. No word on FS2. My Comcast has never carried Fuel.

Like Fox Sprts Live is know time for NBCSP to do a 11pm Sports Highlight show with Dan/Bob and CBSSN change their 11pm that's good to a Highlight one to.
ESPN Levy,Van Pelt tonight and shifted Harris/John B. to 1am Sportscenter.
