I enjoy reading the post Garrett puts on this board. You can tell he really has a passion for radio and is really inquisitive about all aspects of the game. With that being said, when I come back to Lubbock to see family I think me and Garrett need to have lunch and talk about this thing with Ramar! I would never damn anyone for having an opinion or call them stupid because he hears something I don't and that's fine but Garrett let me point out a couple of things to you from an old radio dog that's seen it all! Ramar is a self indulged radio/TV group. If they say they're great in the halls they believe it regardless of the sales. They have a radio GM who is very much lacking in people skills, radio skills and the knowledge and nohow to motivate and if you ask the "upper" clients in the market they will tell you first hand the reason they won't advertise is because of the way he does business. Next comes the station manager or whatever his title is. He was hired to focus on sales! Did you know this guy does the music on Stars? That's right, you have a sales person with NO programming experience playing with the format, making the adds, rest, clocks and rotations. Come to any TAB event and eventually you'll hear about it in the form of a joke or two at the bar after a long day of seminars! The group has NO program directors. Not one person with the title has any experience. The young lady that runs Double T came from TV and doesn't have a clue! Just listen to any of the live shows and you can tell they are not being worked with. I've listed to the Bottom Line several times and it's a good show but he needs help! During one show I counted him saying "um" 94 times! That's not a typo 94 times! Back to Stars! When I stay with my family that's the station that's on the alarm clock and the girl that does morning is the worst jock in the market. Her show prep is rip and read with no brevity and no idea that half of the stuff she talks about doesn't even relate to the market. I heard her do several breaks that went in excess of 7 minutes of her just talking! Some of the stations have great elements. Double T can be a power house if they get the right people in the right spots. Magic is the daddy of the group and they have some really strong talent but still need some work! The imaging on most of the stations is very very poor and doesn't fit the stations with the expect ion of Magic and people have already talked about Tesh and Delila so I won't even mention that. I just thought I would give you a few proven facts about this group. Like I said, they have a few good elements but man do they need work. They should be sold out on Double T and when you have to run PSA's during Tech Games, something's wrong! It may be due to the fact they can't get good talent with the knowledge needed because they don't pay any money or have anyone to train people in the art of sales because your main sales guy is to busy messing with the music. I have a great friend who worked with them a couple years ago and had a great resume of medium market success and they only paid him 26 thousand a year for mornings and a PD post. I hope I didn't offend you because I think you have the passion that everyone who loves radio needs! Like I said I just wanted to give you some inside info all of which came from people I know that has worked with this group!
