Alcoholism is a progressive disease, the older/longer you abuse it the worse it gets.
Fred got sober at least once before in 2020, for some reason he was not able to maintain sobriety.
When you stop drinking, the progression still happens, if you stop drinking when you are 40, and start drinking again at 60, you don't pick up where you left off at 40. Your body reacts as if you have been abusing it all along.
Not everyone gets on the first try, some can't maintain it and relapse several times, some never beat the bottle.
The guy who helped me get sober 21 years ago was not able to maintain long term sobriety and one afternoon he sat in his favorite chair and ate a bullet.
If Fred reads this board, and needs someone to help him get and maintain sobriety, feel free to send me a PM.
Watching him implode on Twitter last weekend was painful because he was in a real bad place
