Free FM Officially Dead in Phoenix

AR, guys. Yes, I'm a huge O&D fan. Chad and Oscar are/were the only talk show I've ever liked. I agree, Leykis sucks. Anyone know when the station is planning on completing the flip?

I'm hearing that it will start stunting sometime in the next 48 hours.

Free-FM is running best of shows now as opposed to the live offerings from Adam Carolla and Frosty, Heidi and Frank. Obviously they were afraid of an on-air whine-fest from the Phoenix listeners.

Allaccess is neat isn't it? That rumor is all over the industry sites. Given their best of marathon, I would presume this is accurate though. Tomorrow could be the day.

I am ecstatic that Leykis is off the air in Phoenix. I will some of the others but could not be happier with this news.

The flip will definitely happen today...very, very soon. Hate Leykis, LOVE Carolla. Sorry to see/hear him go, but at least I can still stream. ;D

It switched over at 5:00PM to some extremely gay guy who plays horrible music.
The website ( http://www.1015freefm.com ) has changed into an image with a big "Free Paris" banner.
The new "slogan" (i don't know radio terms) is "101.5 Free Paris".

It sucks. This is horrible.

Check out these links...everyone is pissed off.

I guess that depends on your definition of "everyone."

If "everyone" was listening to Free FM, it would have showed in the ratings. If "everyone" was listening to Free FM, the station would have made enough money to stay afloat.

Face it...there are more people here talking about this 24 hour stunt format than ever bothered to come here and talk about Free FM.

You do realize that this is a STUNT, right? The "party" at 5pm that the "gay guy" is alluding to will be the launch of 101.5 Jamz.

I can understand if average listeners think that this is the new format, but I can't believe that anyone who cares enough about radio to visit this board in the first place would be fooled.

I can't believe people are believing this is the new format. Are you kidding? A guy just called in to the station and sounded like he totally believes that this guy playing the Paris songs locked himself in the radio studio to get Paris freed. Unbelievable. Obviously the station didn't have the listeners to keep the talk format going. I will miss Adam and Frosty, Heidi & Frank. But very happy Dbag Leykis is gone!

Oops, tried to reply before, and clicked "post" before I did.

Anyway...
In response to the guy/gal who said the flip is "horrible" and to reiterate "justthenumbers"...This is a STUNT. It's supposed to get everyone's attention & curiousity. Obviously it's leading up to something. If you go to the website, it also says Free Paris. You'll just have to stay tuned and see what happens, as the station will certainly "flip" to its intended format pretty sure I would guess.

I don't think it's too bad anymore, now that he's taking calls, and doing an excellent job with that. It is pretty funny. I just meant the Paris Hilton music was "horrible" ;D

Brilliant stunt! Best I've heard in years! ;D

I see nothing about this as brilliant. It's the same thing over and over again, with occasional angry phoners from listeners that terrestrial radio drives away. They are likely in for a huge disappointment at 5pm today, too.

I'm with you on this one. Paris' music, if you can call it music, is beyond horrible. The stunt is definitely working though. I can't believe how many people are posting, good and bad about it. Sounds like CBS accomplished their goal!

Wonder what the ratings will be for this? Funny if they are better than the previous programming. I really hope that another station in PHX picks up ACS.

Uhh sure, if their "goal" was to get people posting about a stunt on a RADIO INDUSTRY message board then yes, mission accomplished.
