All i want for christmas is 92.3 K-Rock back, NY's Rock Radio! Not the crap they play on the weekends now. HOHOHO. Probably there will be no chance of hearing K-Rocks twisted christmas tunes either.

Really? Because all I want for Christmas is an unfocused "Hot Talk" station to take over the only source of current rock we have in town with dismal programming and the safest, tightest playlist on the weekends.

Oops, that was last Christmas wish...

WOW, tough room!. A lump of Coal in your headphones for that one Herring!

Why did we bring K-Rock? It's not coming back, end of story. If you like to hear K-Rock, keep in mind that out in Cleveland, Ohio, there is a K-Rock at 92.3 and the call letters is still WXRK. That's in Cleveland. The website is www.krockcleveland.com

Plus they have the call letters and the slogan but sound NOTHING like krock NYC. They're not even as good if you can imagine that!

I remember when they first repackaged the station with the WXRK calls. It sounded like a pretty good station to me, playing a wide variety of the all encompassing approach to Alternative (a station that would play System Of A Down AND Franz Ferdinand).

I find it hard to believe that the station is now worse than WXRK (NYC), and would like some examples if you have them. After 1996, WXRK (NYC) fluctuated between being a rock station that tried to be all things to all people, to the frat boy station that emphasized nu-metal and played rap acts like Eminem. They were doing fine in '96 from what I could see, so there was no need for all the changes. If they had stayed true to the format's sound without trying to throw in Pink Floyd or Kelly Osbourne while still calling themselves "Alternative", they would still be around today.

Actually, towards the end of their alternative years, when Robert Cross stepped in, I thought the station was doing better. They started playing the new neo-new wave acts like The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, etc. along with Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Garbage, Muse, Snow Patrol and steered away from the active rock world. Too bad all the mooks in the tri-state area stopped listening.

yeah they were definately a little too hip for that particular room given the amount of NEW IROCS being sold in new jersey

:D
