There has been a 102.1 pirate off-and-on in the area for a while, for a couple of years anyway. The French you're hearing may actually be Creole.

I don't get to the Brockton or metro-south areas very often. I'm usually around greater Boston and the north and west suburbs. I've been hearing a 102.1 pirate off-and-on for a few years that I assume is from somewhere in the Boston urban neighborhoods with French-Creole and Haitian programming, though I've also occasionally heard R&B and Caribbean on it. Their technical quality sounds poor compared to the better sounding pirates, and their signal is comparatively weak. I've also heard it throwing a dead carrier with no audio at times, and sometimes it's completely off the air. I know it's not the one from Brockton, I'm too far from that area. I think it's probably the same one you're hearing.

It must be off right now. I pick it up few weeks ago on RT. 128 near Needham .

There was a 99.7 Gospel pirate in Dorchester, only on the air at certain times. I think that Nassau Broadcasting may have complained to the FCC about it because people were reporting that it was causing interference to WCRB 99.5.

it happened when I was at Allston-Brighton Free Radio. A Hatian pirate was messing up our signal (we were a pirate at that point, too). I don't know what Steve Provizer did but they turned down their wattage...
