Friends & Colleagues

As you may have heard, I have recently accepted an On-Air position in another market. In any measurable way, both personally and professionally, this amazing opportunity presents all that I have worked for since I began my Radio career 32 years ago...I am humbly grateful for being given this chance.

That having been said, nothing in the Universe is without balance. Leaving Las Vegas and the State of Nevada is a very difficult thing for me. There is so much important work to be done by Nevada's On-Air Radio Broadcasters, yet I had to choose between continuing that work, or being a responsible husband and father....This time, my family simply had to win....and so it has.

One of the other choices I made here, was to publicly stir the debate about the present and future state of Las Vegas Radio. In doing so, I became the target of the very derisive, pathological snots that have so far kept Southern Nevada On-Air Radio professionals the laughingstock of the local media management. So pathetic was the level of the behavior shown here, that those involved still have no idea that their own snide bile proved all of my points....with one savage, juvenile, personal attack at a time.

(And will again, I suspect. "....Right after this important message....")

So be it.

As I leave here, I offer this one point for you to consider, and act upon, if you see fit....

Revive the honored profession of Las Vegas On-Air Broadcaster. Take note of the very serious flaws in professional logic that somehow make it alright for a major Las Vegas FM in town to promote and then gleefully hand out "No DJ's" t-shirts to the public. Reject the premise of the "Idiot DJ", and anyone who would actually believe in it....quickly, forcefully, and publicly. (Unless you actually are an Idiot DJ...On-Air or off....In which case, leave this industry to those of us who believe in it, not exploit it.)

God Bless All of You...Find Great Success and Prosperity.

Join the Nevada Broadcasters Association.

Good Luck!

JD:

Congratulations on the new job. Your efforts to make Las Vegas radio better were indeed appreciated, at least by some of us.

Sheesh. Good riddance. Almost as good as when that Jim McCarthy hauled his no-talent kiester to Nashville.

Good luck mang!

Jon-David,

Congratulations! Good luck in the other market doing what we all love to do....Radio.

You deserve the best! Go knock their socks off! I am so proud of you! You will be missed!! On air and off...

Kudos J.D., all the best to you and yours. Continue to press on.

JDW,

Hey...I loved those remarks you made about the "NO DJ's" shirts! I'm sad you didn't mention the HUGE "NO DJ" Billboards all over town either! And the Mobile boards that say..."IF You Don't Listen YOU SUCK!" Or the boards with the Jack Ass that say..."Don't Be An Ass Listen To Jack"? Jack recently won an EMA award for their creative services/imaging on air this year and I think Jack should win some awards for the most original and creative radio in Vegas too! At least that's what listeners think! Plus, Jack's morning show is 3rd now. Wait...... there is no Morning show? Oppssss!

Radio... It's about giving the listeners what they want. And that's what Jack does better than all the others!

Is it for everyone? No, just most!

Good luck where ever you are going! I'm sure you will enlighten many broadcasters and show them how to do it better....... your way!

Congrats to ya J.D.
VegasJackoff is just jealous. It is fitting however that he run a station with No Jocks as he was the worst jock him own self.
I still like my Ipod much better. Playing what I want!

Radio My Way: Well-trained, creative, talented, Professional On-Air Broadcasters putting on OUTRAGEOUSLY HOT-SOUNDING RADIO that makes a real difference in its community, all the while being informative, entertaining, and a welcomed, necessary part of a listener's very life!

Radio JACK's Way: A non-stop repetitve slog through songs burned-out music PD's told us were stiffs 5 years ago, interrupted by playing way too many commercials, and poisoning the available audience with snotty liners about lousy DJ's, all the while $8.00 per hour board-ops hawk overblown new car prices at mostly ignored remotes....soon to be blown away by an apathetic former radio listener programming an I-Pod.

Which kind of radio do you think is going to last longer than your career?

See you in the Majors, meat....

....wait, no I won't.
