From K-Hits to The Eagle...

Suzi Facebooked this morning that she'd be on until 3p. Sad for Uncle Guido. I loved hearing his voice, although I think it was tracked.

Why let Dan Gallo go? I like Suzi on the morning show but she just doesn't sound good at all on her own. The Cox people can't possibly think she's a better fit, but maybe they wanted to cut that tie to K-Hits. Who knows.

I heard Dan this weekend, so he's not gone entirely. As for Suzi as a jock, she tracked middays on KKRW before Kelly Ryan added voicetracking the shift to her traffic duties, so it's not the first time she's essentially extended the morning show into middays.

Oh yeah, she did the same shift (10-noon) on the Arrow as she does now. The Eagle before 3 p.m. has huge Arrow overtones, considering Jennifer Tyler is listed for noon to 3. But again, it doesn't mean that's the best choice for 10-noon. I have to wonder if both stations did it/are doing it as basically an extended promotion for Dean and Rog.

They're doing it to save money. Why pay for a full-time midday jock when listeners during middays are pretty much just tuning in for the music. Sure, the midday jock adds some value, but when was the last time you tuned into a music-based midday show solely because of the jock?

Well... I guess by today's standards a music based midday is the norm, but I can remember when you could get a blend of an entertaining jock, and music. IMHO, I would prefer the latter.

I think not...while I have no direct information, Suzy has been doing the mid-days since last week, and for those who care (and those who don't) - it's obviously voice-tracked - and IMO, it sounds like hell.

Scott Sparks is on vacation this week, and Jennifer Tyler is doing afternoons. Per the website, normal shifts are Suzi 10 - Noon and Jennifer Noon - 3.

The music was bad so I switched to KKRW Monday afternoon. I checked them again midday Tuesday and decided to change my presets. I changed my presets again yesterday so KGLK is further down the dial and KUHF and KPFT moved up. I now have no more alternative when commercials play.

The Eagle will overtake the Arrow within the next three months. CC is asleep.

I am too far from Houston to pick up K-HITS and now the eagle so I have a question. I have read about the new morning show but want to know if they kept any of the jocks from KHITS. Also do they have a new program director. I looked at the Houston ratings a couple of places on line and did not see KHTZ even listed. Why do you think this format change and how did they choose this it

The Eagle was created when Dean and Rog left the Arrow. The Arrow has been the only game in town for Classic Rock until the Eagle came along. Cox saw a perfect time to take em down. Although they now need to tweak the music and not play Dobie Gray back to back with Zep. There is only at max a 3.5 share of classic rock listeners in Houston. So how they survive by splitting the share? Someone has to go down. As far as the jocks, no there have been some changes. They have Jennifer Tyler and Suzi who both came from the Arrow. Scott Sparks who did the morning show before has been moved to afternoons but I don't think it will last.Unless he took a hefty pay cut, Cox won't continue to pay him morning show rates for afternoon drive.

Since Facebook is the new R&R Street Talk... Jennifer Tyler's status today is "Last day filling in for the vacationing Scott Sparks 3-7pm on The New 107-5 The Eagle. Starting Monday, LIVE in the mid-day from 10am-3pm."

So it's the last day of tracks in middays.
