WWOR has dropped the UPN thing from thier logo.Could this be the begining of trend?
UPN38 to TV-38
UPN28 to TV-28 or something.
Has anyone else dropped the UPN(?) in thier logo?

I believe I saw somewhere (could be WSBK's website) that they have already announced that they will go back to being called 'TV-38' after UPN ceases to exist. Since CBS owns this station I would expect them to promote UPN until at least the May sweeps.

WLWC is going to be the Providence affiliate of the CW network. I don't know if they will be called CW28 or not.

WSBK has not dropped the UPN in its logo yet. Not sure about WLWC.

The Boston Globe stated that it would "revert its calls back to WSBK-TV 38." The calls never changed and they don't seem to get it. In addition, I'm sure very few people actually watch the station on channel 38. I wonder if that will play a role in the rebranding of the station.

The 38 will probably stay because it's been the one constant used throughout the history of the station. TV-38 has a great heritage in New England and is well known as such. Even though it is somewhere else on cable, people still know where to find it. Even now, it's referred to as "UPN 38" and The U "38".
Never understood promoting it as "The U"; this never made any sense to me. Thankfully, THAT will go away soon.

In the cases of UPN 38 and UPN 28, CBS owns both, so the "UPN" will stay 'til the end most likely. Also, UPN 28 is going to be the CW outlet in Providence-New Bedford, so it will most likely become The CW 28 or "whatever-we-feel-like-renaming-our-network" 28.

As for UPN 9: WWOR is owned by Fox, who is getting the royal screw in this whole CW deal. In what's basically retaliation, Fox removed the "UPN" from the image of all of its O&Oed UPN affiliates. They are also not marketing the UPN product on those stations.
