Frosty, Heidi & Frank on 790?

BC_174 has a good point. But I know that I have been listening solidly to KABC for the past two weeks during the 9am to 12:00 noon spot. Then I rapidly change to KFI and listen to Handel.

I think the new KABC management is wise and I would hope that FHF is just the first step in re-inventing the station from your Grandma's station to something that younger audiences can listen to. Even Frank Kramer said that KABC was extremely motivated and would be sponsoring FHF roadshows, so they seem to be 100 percent committed to them. Older management people at KABC destroyed it with "nuts" and it may take a little while to change that but I feel the FHF move was an excellent start.

KABC did a great job of bringing back some humor back on the air...there are WAY too many political talk shows on radio and so sick and tired of hearing all the bickering...get an f**king life!

Humor, what humor ?
I suppose if one has a cabbage instead of gray matter between the ears.......

"KABC did a great job of bringing back some humor back on the air."

Humor? Really? (sigh).

ok, so maybe not humor, but it's a whole lot better than hearing some political shit on the radio...unless you're listening to weekend programming, most of the weekday lineups on the major dial is so goddam political...

Credit for the move goes to Bob Moore, NOT DGH! Moore wanted HHF, DGH did not, according to sources. Bob is the boss. One wonders what DGH does over there. Same "magic" he did at KNX and KFWB?

The move is going to blow-up in Bob Moore's face! He takes orders from New York and the Citadel suits won't put up with FHF's shenanigans for long!

unless they get ratings...then Bob Moore is the hero! (and more hot talk will be on it's way!

FHF were hired by Citadel and I am sure the "Citadel suits in New York" were familiar with their show. I, for one, applaude KABC for hiring FHF, and I am happy local talent was hired instead of the regular assortment of talk show yawners like Savage, Beck, O'Reily, Humphries, Hendrie, etc....

Be happy for FHF and that someone liked them enough to put their show back on in L.A. Besides, who says KABC is their perminant home? Maybe Citadel has plans for their future...maybe it's Citadel's ace in the hole in case they lose Mark & Brian, or maybe there is a syndication deal in the works.

I thought Mark & Brian were just signed to a new deal ?

Yeah...and FHF signed a deal with CBS. Aparently that didn't work out to well for them.

Who knows what will happen tomorrow?

I think they left it up to Bob Moore to call the shots at KABC, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Citadel suits in NY pull the plug on the FHF experiment real fast. I know many people have speculated about KLOS and it's future as an FM Talk station with Bob as the GM.

BC, i don't quite know what you mean by "FHF's shenanigans".

The bottom line is whether it is Citadel, CBS, ABC or any other corporate entity. As long as FHF deliver ratings it doesn't matter what philosphy FHF or the corporation has. If you hadn't noticed the bottom line is business and nothing else.

Citadel is to radio what dogs*it is to grass. Ugly company, mismanaged and deeply in debt. The clock's ticking.

I think that is the biggest factor....everyone from Farid on down must know that they are on borrowed time....by late Spring, Citadel will be in the hands of someone else, and most of these people will join the unemployed.

Been trying to listen daily when possible. The EXTENDED news breaks just kill it for me. Some of those breaks are soooo long, I literally forget what I'm listening to. Even they seem to forget the current topic when they come back.... Last couple days, I just waited for the podcast (which are break-free).

And therein lies the problem. If you want to do Hot Talk, you need a Hot talk clock. KLSX pas programmed like a music station for younger listeners accustomed to 18-minute music sweeps. 3-segments/3-breaks an hour. You're not going to connect with younger listeners if you keep programming to grandpa.

Honestly, you'd think it was the law that AM stations have to sound like that. It's not and they don't. Timidity and lack of vision from the PD is the problem.
