This is just a freeze. Its amazing how schools close in this city for the smallest freeze. There are 37 trucks in this city for de-icing......philly has 15 trucks...yet they seem to do just fine
I remember living in philly...and with 6-8 inches of snow and 1" thick ice....school was still in, just a tad later. When there was 17" of snow...school was closed. For good reason.

And I lived in Syracuse for a year, during a winter when they got 110" of snow. The schools never closed there that winter.
Philly has equipment and stockpiles of salt to cope with winter weather. South Texas doesn't.
That's what makes this weather a big deal here.

Still not a storm. As long as the media keeps the hype up, the more people will drive like idiots and over-correct themselves. Like I said before...SA has THIRTY-SEVEN trucks dispersing ice-melting mixture..........i have been driving everyday in this crap, not once has it been even slippery as long as you be careful. Not even the bridges, overpasses and ramps have been all that bad. Yes, this stuff isnt fun, but no need to go to HEB and buy "a yr's worth of groceries" like a ton of people on the news was saying. Sure there are thousands without power..................but they are back on now. And there is always a wal-mart or heb in arms distance. I just find this hilarious and pretty stupid. Tell me why this is a big deal again?
