full coverage of winter storm on the radio??????

I always thougt WOAI simalcasted WOAI-4 in cases like this?

what could have ANY station told you (that you did not already know) ??

Driving - very dangerous
Going out - Dangerous
Power - some are out , some ain't ...
In general - a big mess - stay at home
I mean what did you want ... a 24 hour pellet by pellet announcement?

KTSA was on all day, even pre-empting Dave Ramsey. Yet the city of SA keeps telling people to tune into the blowtorch, which plays Glenn Beck, Rush and Hannity. Go figure.

correction..this isnt a storm......go live in colorado, new york, minnesota, philadelphia...................THOSE are storms.

This is just a freeze. Its amazing how schools close in this city for the smallest freeze. There are 37 trucks in this city for de-icing......philly has 15 trucks...yet they seem to do just fine :)

I remember living in philly...and with 6-8 inches of snow and 1" thick ice....school was still in, just a tad later. When there was 17" of snow...school was closed. For good reason.

And I lived in Syracuse for a year, during a winter when they got 110" of snow. The schools never closed there that winter.

Philly has equipment and stockpiles of salt to cope with winter weather. South Texas doesn't.

That's what makes this weather a big deal here.

Speaking of which.... what happened did they all loose power last night? I gues the main tower got hit? For a while I Got Houston KILT & KLOL when the stations got knocked out. Then they came back and the HD signal was gone. I havnt checked it this morrning but 106.7 even got knocked out last night.

Still not a storm. As long as the media keeps the hype up, the more people will drive like idiots and over-correct themselves. Like I said before...SA has THIRTY-SEVEN trucks dispersing ice-melting mixture..........i have been driving everyday in this crap, not once has it been even slippery as long as you be careful. Not even the bridges, overpasses and ramps have been all that bad. Yes, this stuff isnt fun, but no need to go to HEB and buy "a yr's worth of groceries" like a ton of people on the news was saying. Sure there are thousands without power..................but they are back on now. And there is always a wal-mart or heb in arms distance. I just find this hilarious and pretty stupid. Tell me why this is a big deal again?

as a former DOT worker for the great state of Colorado...you guys experienced a 'freeze'. Nothing more than a slight inconvience .

But this is SOUTH TEXAS, not Colorado. People are not experienced in driving in this mess. Anyone remember the time about 3 or 4 years ago when the temperature dipped below 32 degrees for about 4 hours on a Saturday morning during Feb sweeps. I believe that there were 800+ accidents in the city of San Antonio.

the city of SA tells people to tune to WOAI?

My old Hallicrafters has the 'cd' logo at 1200. It was the conelrad frequency. Likewise WOAI was the EBS originator, and is now the EAS station for the region. Good luck, y'all. I hope their evening and nighttime news announcers in HOUSTON get the bulletin!

Yes, and anytime the temperature gets above 90 up north all we hear about on the national news is the deadly "heat wave" and all the problems it causes. Here in South Texas, we call it April.

What the hell is this, "Weather War Stories?"

I live in Buffalo. You want snow? We got it. But we're equipped to handle it. San Antonio is a different story.

I feel very badly for the folks who are hurting and extend my heartfelt best to those without power, heat, light and food. Doesn't matter where you're from, misery is misery, whether it's eight feet of snow (which, BTW, fell in Buffalo in one 24 hour period a few Christmases ago... talk about a "White Christmas") or floods or ice storms.

Bad weather is nothing to snort about. We had an ice storm in Buffalo on October 12th that kicked our ass. Tough and prepared as we are for winter, 100 thousand people were without power for days upon days. It's pretty damn strange when you consider Niagara Falls, one of the largest power producing facilities in America, is a stone's through away. But if there isn't any wire to carry electrons, guess what? Lights out!

People were buying generators at Home Depot and Sears and powering up their houses and their neighbor's houses. If there's one thing about bad weather in this neck of the woods, it brings out the best in us as we reach out to help those around us.

Snow is a day at the beach compared to ice. I hope people in SA get through this storm as a community, survive and get stronger.
