Fun 101.1

Looks like Crawford is going to be having fun in Birmingham. If you go to legends1260.com you'll see the new Fun 101.1 logo. I guess that answers what was going to happen to Legends 1260 also.

Fun? Does this mean hours and hours of Burt and Kurt telling us how fun/funny they are and never getting around to the actual fun/funny?

I suppose that means 1260 is once again back to being nothing more than a simulcast of one of the other Crawford stations. :-\
Guess that was bound to happen eventually...they've been struggling with that oldies/standards format, even though it's been less than a year since the switch back to "Legends".

"The Source" website is completely down now.

....WMUZ?

That's interesting, since i heard matt murphy said friday (or was it thursday) WYDE was not abandoning it's talk format.

Keeping them on HD or something?

Just how far does the HD signal get?

what is fun 101.1 format ? ( for those of us that can't get the web audio protocols to function ) :-\

See if you can find the common link:

- If a tree falls in the forest, and no one is around to hear it... does it actually make a sound?

- If Crawford changes formats on 101.1, and no one ever listens... does it actually HAVE a format?

Crawford can have the "WFNU" calls if they want 'em...country station WTID (Repton/Evergreen) "101.1 the Power Pig" was once a snooze-inducing AC/oldies station "Fun 101" serving Monroeville.

Hopefully, they won't be copying their format. ;)

Although the "Legends" website still just has the new "Fun 101" logo, "The Source" website is back up again, but now with a mention of fun101radio.com (registered on June 30).

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Fun 101.1 is going to be an HD2 channel, simulcast in Birmingham on 1260.

I couldn't get the Fun 101 audio stream to work in Opera, but it did show a Fun 101 banner that said "For God & Country". *puke* ::)

Did they flip at midnight? I'm hearing "Christmas in July" music and an occasional "The elves are putting the finishing touches on a fun new station for Birmingham" or something like that. They cut the replay of Bore and Killjoy, er I mean Burt and Kurt at midnight.

Don Crawford as "Rudolph"...Film at 11. :D
It's late...sorry. I need to go to sleep.
"Legends 1260" online stream is Christmas, also.
Wonder how long "Christmas in July" will last before the "new station" shows up?

something flipped at midnight i think - a promo "real fun" is returning to your mornings - right after the chipmunks singing about a christmas tree. oh lord. i, personally, much more prefer replays. i don't get to listen much during the day. i guess us edumucated people who might be interested aren't paying the bills, eh?

well - if it were *only* an hd2 format for 1260, why promo it on 101.1 ?

my guess - we'll keep most of the talk shows, but during non-talk show hours, we'll do legends/fun. maybe we'll even go as far as doing replays on hd-2 and .. heck.

i'm still wondering - i heard matt murphy say last week the talk format was not going away. it's going to have to be some mix of something - unless crawford flat out instructed murphy to lie.

and yes, murphy, if you read this (i'm sure you don't) - the fcc grants crawford the right and the license (after crawford pays the fees) for 101.1 - i'm sure you're familiar with the public filing and request for comments process - 101.1 "must" be serving the public interest and the fcc could pull the license if it comes out it's not (and it is) - but crawford is not the end all owns all of 101.1 - they *are* public airwaves.

and no, i wasn't planning to waste my time calling you and arguing with you on that :)

I was speculating that it would be the HD-2 of 101.1 - AM's can't multicast (yet) with HD. It would make sense to have something on the HD-2 in "OK" quality and also on the AM, both analog and HD, to reach more people.

But I guess it is the whole 101.1 that is flipping and not just an HD-2.

Matt Murphy will still be around, just not on 101.1. He's moving to WXJC and WPHC beginning July 10 from 1-2 pm. I heard it announced on 101.1 this morning.

I wish that Crawford would stop making sooo many changes. I can understand some of the things they have done, but when it comes does to it. Some of the things have been absurd... Love ya Lee Davis, but playing a replay in the middle of the day is bad radion PR. I saw on the Home 101 website that the Source is gone for good... not meaning that the talk format is gone though. Also, I know one of the advertisers that use to broadcast on the Source... They had to cut the advertising because Crawford had raised the prices too high from what it was. Cant keep good people if you charge too much.

yah...i'm in cullman (where 101.1 is anyway) - we get 92.5 barely here in the car - and if you go off the hill or north anywhere you get talk radio out of huntsville. the footprint and wattage is muuuuuuch smaller. i thought 101.1 was a good idea...for that signal which has had so many problems making it on other formats....but come on crawford...oldies? you think you will actually sell that?

whats gonna be on 101.1 next? any guesses?

Who knows what will be on that station... It stinks that Crawford would make such a blunder. I read on a website regarding Cullman that Russ Fine is taking credit for the downfall of 101.1. Arrogant, arrogant... I think the fall was poor decision making. And I still think they are making one now.
