Fun With Delays

If you are located “east of the Rockies”, you might be able to have some fun with the different delays stations use on talk programs.

Set your AM presets in the following order:
1 – 1040 (WHO) or 1140 (WRVA)
2 – 1510 (WLAC)
3 – 890 (WLS)
4 – 1100 (WTAM)
5 – 840 (WHAS)
6 – 1210 (WPHT)
7 – 1190 (WOWO)
8 – 810 (WGY)

Then, wait until about 2 – 2:30 AM (ET).
Tune on preset 1.
Listen for a catchy phrase that you would like to hear repeated.
Quickly hit preset 2 (listen), then 3 (listen), then 4 (listen), …etc. (You may have to wait a few seconds when you get to preset 8 (WGY has a longgg delay.))

If you find more stations that fit in, please revise the list - with the station’s delay in proper order, of course! ;)

Have fun…

...and, Ho Ho. That was the other night. Tonight, the order is

1-1140
2-840
3-890
4-1040/1100/1510
5-1210
6-1190
7-810

Hmmmm...... ???

There are sooo many variables here.

HD stations with the 8.4 second delay to match the analog to the digital.

HD stations with the 8.4 second delay to match the analog to the digital and a profanity delay.

The start time of the playback of "recorded" shows:
Recorded & played on the automation. Start time's variable.
Recorded & played back in the satellite receiver. You can specify start time on some but not all.

Stations that turned off the delay to broadcast local sports. Forget to turn it back on.

HD Stations that turn off both the HD delay and studio delay for sports. Forget to turn one or both back on.

A device that compresses the 60 minute program hour to 59 or 58 minutes leaving an extra minute or two for more commercials.

Someone or something screws up.
