Furman Bisher Weighs In On Fan Vs Zone

Besides the fact that 790 is bad, Furman may think he's listening to a station broadcast in Chinese when he hears the Stews.

HEY, EX-LION STEW: THAT'S A MICROPHONE. YOU DON'T NEED TO YELL INTO IT TO BE HEARD!

I think he meant to say he preferred 790 in the morning, if I'm reading it right.

Furman isn't exactly the target demo for either station. Unless the Zone is going away from Urban and now cultivating the senile one foot in the grave demo.

"Furman listens to the radio" conjures up images of a wrinkled old geezer cocking his ear toward one of those gigantic wooden contraptions with tubes in the back.

The 88 year old target demo goes to 680.
I thought it funny today that Steak was making such fun of the old guy choosing 680 over 790.
He must have missed the fact that the Rude Awakening beats his butt in every target demo, from 18+, 25-54...
The day he lets Nick and Chris reunite and do Bottom line will be a plus for the station.
Not a drive time option for those two, but that show was a solid peformer.
I was told Friday that 790 has a shock the world card coming soon. They are going to be very aggressive.
If that means dumping the mid-day show and Bell going back to mornings this could be a positive thing!

A good start for 790 the zone would be to improve their nighttime signal so a person can actually listen to it past the Brookhaven MARTA station heading north at nighttime. It says a lot when I have to listen to 1530 Homer out of Cincinnati with their 50,000 watt signal for Fox Sports Radio at night instead of our local station despite the fact that I live not far up Peachtree Industrial Blvd.

790's idea of "shock the world" might be the brass getting out of the way and hiring a PD from outside their circle of friends who actually knows what he's doing.

Boy he sure has his finger on the pulse of sports radio. Not bad for a guy is thisclose (sic) to not having a pulse. Raise your hands if you think he still uses a Royal manual typewriter. Did you notice the dig at "Rude Awakeing" claiming Boortz (a fellow Cox employee) had it first? I think every morning man in every market has used that moniker at one time or another.
