Fusion 100.1 FM Is Now...

Still sounding good. I would tighten up the on air sound. Also drop the country, and modern rock tracks.

Amen to your thoughts Mr. Gower.

...And yes you do know more than you think.

I learn so much from every post you put on here.

It helps me out in a big way, as I try to make my own return to this business.

R.D.P. <><

I think Mr. Gower is a bit Jealous he didn't come up with that idea!

ha ha

Not jealous at all. Done enough research in major markets to understand how people use music services. Read up on the "music genome project" if you'd like to inderstand more - It's Pandora. If you're in the mood for "x", then "y" will send you searching, but songs similar to "x" will keep you listening. Maybe Bill Jones in market 151 has discovered the next big thing, but I doubt it. It is more likely that it's just folly. This station will have the worst time spent listening in the market. This will not work. Of course I could be wrong, but I wouldn't invest 1 dollar in this type of format. Just wondering what they will go to in the future (near future).

Neither would I.

This radio station is making me laugh even harder now.

What a joke they are.

Still I make the prediction Q 96.1 and ALEX FM will trounce all over them.

R.D.P. <><

P.S. Should this experiment be a failure, I see them coming back to Selma and reclaiming their old Dixie branding and Country format.

Who knows? Maybe within a week or two we shall see a swap a la Mobile with 97.5 FM and 104.1 FM - have Fusion 100.1 become Fusion 107.9 (which completely covers Montgomery metro, quelling all the complaints which will begin this Saturday night during/after the Alabama-Michigan football game) and allow K-Love to take over 100.1 and serve western Montgomery, and Lowndes and Dallas County with a format perhaps more listenable to their tastes.

Stranger things HAVE happened.

I like the way you think...i had the same thoughts and was going to say the same thing, it would benefit K-love to switch with 107.9 and serve the areas where 104.3 can't reach.

As one of the engineers who installed K-LOVE's equipment....I assure you they're going on 107.9.

In-fact, the switch will happen at 22:00 this Friday.

Yeah, they launch on 107.9, and when the backlash over the lack of radio coverage for alabama games comes in, they get offered to switch with 100.1..

it could happen.

One problem with that.

107.9 FM doesn't come in too well, on most days.

When the winds are blowing right, we can get them. (Ha Ha! Mr Zach)

If Bama football were to relocate there, then the Selma area would be without a local station for the games.

Meaning, we would have to drag in WINL 98.5 from Demopolis to hear them.

Most days, that signal is moderate in my truck and/or car.

I can't get them at all, inside my home.

R.D.P. <><

WINL 98.5 doesn't have an acceptable signal in Selma?

Here in Pensacola we have to pull in distant stations to hear Auburn Football. WCSN 105.7 from Gulf Shores covers the West side of town, WBZR 105.9 from Atmore and WKNU 106.3 from Brewton cover the north part of town. Luckily the south side if town is the Gulf of Mexico and the East side of town is Eglin Air Force Base.
Alabama football is being carried by a 1000 watt "graveyard" AM, WBSR ESPN 1450, which only covers the Pensacola city limits and some beach areas south of the city like Perdido Key and parts of Gulf Breeze. Basically a 10 mile radius from the transmitter in downtown Pensacola. Florida and FSU got the better AM stations, but I believe Auburn is the only team we can pick up on FM in Pensacola.

... and you thought the Black Belt had it bad...

Well we still have it bad, somewhat.

Auburn football is now being regulated to a 1000 watt AM station here in Selma.

Since WDXX moved to Montgomery (Supposedly), they were forced to drop Auburn Football from their schedule.

Now WHBB is the only local station carrying their games.

However we can still get them on the legendary WLWI from Montgomery.

Their signal here is very powerful.

On most days, they sound just like if they were a local Selma station.

R.D.P. <><

P.S. They do, inside my vehicle.  Inside the house, they don't.  (To answer your question about WINL from Demopolis!)

Fuzion 100 has secured the exclusive Montgomery radio broadcast rights to Alabama Crimson Tide Sports with an agreement that runs through the 2016-17 season.

Found that info, on the home page of Radio-Info and the Montgomery Advertiser.

Just a heads up for those who like Bama Football.

R.D.P. <><

P.S. One question I need to ask.  How long do you think this station will be able to carry Bama Football for the Montgomery area?  I just don't see them doing it for a long time myself.  Their weak signal may force them to drop the games altogether, once they catch too many complaints from their fans.

Well they was going bankrupt unless they did something so gman an others wouldn't loose there job thats what i heard

This info was taken from their facebook page, with some slight word changes made by me.

Is there any truth to this information?

If so, then it would explain the changes they made.

Still I see this station as a train wreck, that will derail very hard.

Keep up the good work Mr. Gower and ALEX FM.

Love ya much!!!  ;)

P.S. Thanks for trying to entertain me (Con)Fuzion 100.1 FM.  You did your best but I'm still not impressed with your product.

Just a heads up for those who like Bama Football.

I hope they really signed a one season contract with an option to renew at a predetermined price until the 2016 season. I doubt Bama will be happy with WDXX's current facilities for the Capitol City affiliate of the second best football team in the state and I wouldn't be surprised if WDXX paid too much for the rights because Auburn wasn't available and they desperately needed the programming or no one would ever find out the station existed.

So who's carrying the Tide on the South and East sides of the Gump? I assume there is at least one small station (if not a big bad mama jama blowtorch) covering Auburn, possibly from Columbus, GA, but that still leaves a big patch of real estate between WDXX's "best coverage possible" with the wind cooperating and whatever signal is covering the Plains.

Do you think anyone at WDXX suspects that the new 40kw@500ft signal might not be much better than the old 50kw@300ft signal? If I was running WDXX, I'd be cranking up transmitter power as high as the equipment would allow during Tide games each week. Think they might be tossing around the same idea?

Yes the east side of Montgomery might be able to get the Bama games after all.

Tune in to 106.5 FM and/or AM 1300 from Tallassee and enjoy them.

For the details on this discovery visit: http://www.rolltide.com/multimedia/radio-tv.html

I have been able to get 106.5 FM from Tallassee very well in my car and/or truck, while visiting that area of the city.

They have a powerful signal for a 250 watt translator repeater station.

Amazing isn't it?

R.D.P. <><

P.S. AM 1300 does come in during the daytime in that area too.  The signal is marginal at best.

You're being very generous IMHO with that 10 mile radius quote for WBSR, especially at night. ;)

Some other flotsam and jetsam:

a) How can a country station in Alabama not be making money? That's one of those "I can't believe it can happen" type events, if true.

b) I propose we officially adopt RDP's "(Con)Fuzion 100.1" as the station's new nickname. All in favor?

Suppose they've played Electric Light Orchestra's song "Confusion" yet?

Oh wait, ELO is my favorite band. It would make a great theme song for this station.

I can already hear my mother screaming at a static filled radio tomorrow night about 6:50 PM

Yes the east side of Montgomery might be able to get the Bama games after all.

If the right antenna is used and mounted properly, this station should do okay in Montgomery.

Several stations fall short of the city grade (according to maps) but have a good signal in Baldwin COunty

WRRX
WZEW
WAVH
WLVM (98.3)

The

Don't pay attention to those maps,.
