GAP launches website

Well then it isn't the "first official look", if you didn't claim to be early, Mr. Lubbock.

That was going to be my reply. But nah, I had to make it a bit more fun.

Hang on...let me drop a bomb on you...you guys know that GAP has a band too, right? And a few stores in a few malls around the country!

Whats funny about the GAP site...is that you can quickly see how crappy some stations websites are. I don't get that. This is just another way for you to entertain etc... your listeners. Even if you dont have something going on...at least make the effort to make it look as you do. Its not that hard.

Well, you know BVG, we always had a market "gap" anyway ;D

So then I take it some of them have already moved off the Clear Channel web template, I take it?

Question about the Lufkin cluster

I see that Gap now owns all the former CC stations in the Luf/Nac market. I checked out their websites, and I'm a little suspicious.

Does anybody know if the Lufkin Gap stations are doing all their own local programming with local air personalities?

Or, are they piping them in from Dallas or somewhere?

They should all be local. There will be no voicetracking from any other companies.

All Gap stations in the Luf/Nac market are programmed locally. What are you suspicious about?

What was I suspicious about?

I think it's the look of some of the personalities on a couple of the websites. Some of the bios and resumes show people with a bit more experience than I would expect of someone working in a small market like Lufkin. People with that much experience should be working in a bigger market.

That's when it occurred to me that they may be people at a bigger market station voice-tracking their shows to Lufkin.

But you say they're all local? I'll go with that. Thanks.

No. I said all programming is local.

Of course Kidd Kraddick and Johnboy and Billy are syndicated.

KYKS afternoons/nights are VT, KTBQ middays/afternoons, and KAFX middays.

Which ones seemed like they should be in a bigger market?

Q107s web site still shows it as a CC website....now if JohnBoy and Billy are still on in the morning, how can you say they are locally programmed? Jen Austin is not local either (I know she is in a bigger market)....
I doubt Gap would dump all the programming brought in right off the bat....they could not get local talent that quick

All music is programmed locally, sir. They are not taking logs from bigger markets.

Music logs and programming are in my opinion different things. You stated in an earlier message (noted above) Kraddick and JB&B are still on the air and all the shows you mentioned that are VT?? That programming....so thus the music may be local but there is NO local on air talent.....at least thats the way I read it.....LOCAL programming IS local on-air jocks, etc not just the music.

Believe it or not...it would probably be hard to find a full and complete airstaff for places like Lufkin and Texarkana. Radio has very little "showbiz appeal" to these younger kids. And most are simply happier flipping burgers and goin thru school than manning the weekend overnights for minimum wage.

I guess Lufkin has a PD...for all of their stations, but they have voice trackers 98% of the time from out of market or syndicated. Is that local? Not in my book, but maybe in some. So they schedule music from the local market, big deal. Do they have live warm bodies in the studios at Lufkin GAP? No.
