GARY CRAIG WILL NOT BE RENEWED AT 965 TIC

Sorry, I shared an office with him. It's perfectly okay that you have a different opinion of him and I am actually happy that someone had a good experience with him. He obviously liked you, for whatever reason. But I have to tell you, he's not nice overall. I never did a anything to him and actually tried to look for the good points in him because I had listened to him before I got into radio. I had heard he was not easy to deal when I was just a listener and when I got the chance to work with him, I wanted to prove those people wrong BIG TIME! He didn't like me because he didn't like the PD du jour and that person hired me. John was nice to me to my face, but when he was with Gary, it was a different story. Ya know who I miss? (I am sure you're waiting with baited breath) Roger Stafford. HE was a nice guy! He had a hard and checkered past that he was willing to share with people because it showed he had grown as a person. He was funny as all get out and really cared about his part, no matter how large or how small, he played at the station. I was saddened to see he had passed...about 5-7 years ago??? He was in Florida then and a friend had read me the article in the paper. Remember from a past post, my dislike of him comes from what he tried to do to my then engagement to my now husband. He likes my hub and so does John, but they do not like me and tried to break us up. 17 years later we are still together. (add in the 10 years we knew each other PRIOR to that)

Wow! Poor Arthur Gopen -- I mean "Gary Craig". Worked with him at KISS the entire time he was there. Never said a word to me. Then again, I could never do anything to benefit him. That's the way he is -- if you can't help him out, he doesn't want to know you.... Radio isn't what it used to be. Got out of radio several years ago and started my own LPFM (much to the oppostion of CC, CBS and Entercom). All I have to say is this.....what goes around, comes around.
BUB-BYE ARTHUR!!!

First, of all the people ripping Gary apart, I wonder how many of you ACTUALLY worked with him CLOSELY?.... Sure, everyone has their moments, but I honestly cannot think of ONE TIME that I felt gary was being a jerk. Never....good guy, I'm sure he is staying where he is

I DID work with him closely. For several years. I was literally right behind him when he was trying to set the world handshaking record at the Big E. I used to go to his restaurant for lunch all the time (a macrobiotic Diner on the second floor of a building on Pratt Street if memory serves) As I stated in another thread, I got along with him fine, but never ever trusted him. There are "talent" like that at every station, including where I am now. Everyone does have their moments; but for me, Gary's good moments were far fewer than the moments when he was such a nice guy. And based on what CBS has been doing around the rest of the country, he's likely gone.

Most morning radio personalities are troublemakers. They can't just do their schtick mind their own business and go about their merry way. They have to trash management on the air in their very inside radio unfunny bits. All to boost their little egos. I worked with one at KCI in New Haven. Thankfully that little troublemaking twirp has been silenced for good.

"It's only radio. No one gets hurt." That's an observation I heard in a few stations when stress levels hit their peak. Judging by these posts, I guess it's not exactly true.

It's only radio when you are receiving a healthy paycheck for services rendered. Not fun when you are pulling a dagger out of your back because some people can't do their job and mind their own business. ::)

???

hmmmm... Been here since November of '91, and can't really think of anyone on the morning show that fits that bill...

Feduzi? Penn? No, well, not to me...

Stu? Pat Grey? Glenn??? No, haven't been silenced...

The Doc? Coach? Pacelli? Nah, not dead...

JK? Nah, he's on Big D now...

Peggy? I don't think the pig would make anyone mad... Me?

Maybe...

I didn't urinate in your Frosted Flakes at anytime, did I? I mean, if I said I did, it might've been just a stupid radio stunt... I appologize, if I said I did...

About half a dozen morning guys since 1979 have been at KC. Hint: This unfunny head case went through 19 news people in 8 years. Nothing wrong with him? It's the 19 news people.

Oooohhhh.... Got it. He'd mellowed out some when I got here... Then, HE was gone.

My bad, I remember the stories.

Mr. Mellow wasn't such a mellow fellow back then. He felt the station revolved around him.
Corporate didn't see it that way. A very manipulative little person. No one liked him

No doubt. If half the stories are a quarter true, I don't know how you worked here. At least my time there was fun.

Karma's somethin' else though, isn't it? ;)

This person was NEVER a team player. It was all about ME with him. He could have cared less about anyone in the place. His radio INSIDE radio humor was horrible. Like making fun of the 80 year old guy who shovels the driveway to
busting them on every part timer. The stories were endless. My beef was that management allowed it.

You wouldn't know him since he was canned in the Spring of '91.
You must know the right people to still be working there???? Hope they treat you right. ;D

Wasn't it the spring of '91 when Dr. Chris got broomed?
;D
After the Fall book of '90 his Arb numbers were down. Cheap Channel had bought the place from Noble Broadcasting for some obsene amount of money. A PD known as "The Wing Commander"was hired from a station in Iowa in the Spring of '91. He hired Glenn & Pat. Exit the evil Dr.

I'm sorry, but I thought this thread was about Gary Craig....hmmmm...interesting....anyway, we ALL have worked with people that are less than nice/respectful/whatever....let's get over it, and maybe stick to the discussion at hand...got a problem with some long gone morning guy at KC101? Start a NEW discussion

Hey video-that's exactly the same story when I worked there. If they wanted him to show up at a station function, he had to be paid a lot for it. He never even showed up at the Christmas parties (before they were called Holiday parties, as I know he's Jewish and... so am I, but I showed up). John even hates him, but he sucks up to him because he wants to keep his gig. You wouldn't believe what John Elliott used to say about Gary when he Gary was gone. He used to also suck up to Kelly and Kline when they were there. Gary actually used to talk badly about me hoping that my now husband wouldn't marry me. Good thing my hub knew what he was like and knew me a hell of a lot longer than hew knew Gary. Gary didn't think I was good enough for him. I guess you COULD call that trying to throw me under the bus...personally. I remember the day Gary had to clean out his desk after he was let go. Ahhh, those were the days. But then there was Larry Wachs. A truly nice guy personally, but an ass of an air talent when it came to doing what he should for the station. That's because Tom Mitchell let him get away with things because he worked with him at WPXY in Rah-cha cha. Damon and Learjet filling in were funnier than Larry Wachs and Eric Haessler. Good Luck to Damon. He's a very nice guy and such a devoted father. That is the essence of a great person. He always talked about his kid with such pride and was always there when his kid was doing something at school.

Craig has a great voice but it's been the same old shtick for 20 years. GM of CBS of Hartford Suzanne McDonald has put up with his bs for years. He thinks he's god's gift to morning radio. The numbers don't lie and it's time for him to ride off into the radio sunset.
DRC would never hire Gary C. Especially for the $300k he wants a year. And that's a conservative estimate.

what a jerk & not alot of talent, there's NOT alot of "Love" for Gary Craig- and i CAN'T believe ANYONE is getting $300K in Hartford.
