Noticed on multiple occasions this weekend they were just calling themselves "106 Seven" with no mention of "Gen X"... Not every bump, but fairly frequently.
I definitely think the whole WWCD saga will dictate where they go with this frequency.
Wouldn't shock me if they just reintroduced the "radio" brand again as its original Philly counterpart, WRFF 1045, does quite well.
I suppose if they wanted to irritate people, they could brand it CD106.7, just like Mix 107.9 appeared almost immediately after Mix 971's flip. Probably wouldn't be the best PR move...
And of course, there's those nostalgic for a "Channel Z" but yea...
SIDENOTE: Found a cassette recording earlier this year from probably 1999 or early 2000 when Z was on 105.7. Here's what it had:
Hole - "Celebrity Skin", Jars of Clay - "Flood", Citizen King - "Better Days", Collective Soul - "Run", Limp Bizkit - "Re-Arranged", and Fiona Apple - "Fast as you Can"
Kind of an interesting mixture there. I seem to recall them almost being a Rock40 by the end. They were mostly playing the pop-punk (Lit, Blink, etc), NuMetal (Korn, Limp, etc) pop-rock (Stroke 9, Splender), SoCal (OPM, Len), Lilith (Fiona, Tori Amos), Canadian (Econoline Crush, OLP), and some gold from earlier in the decade. It's hard to remember a time when 'alternative' was mostly current tracks.
