Gene and Julie

Yeah Daws Butler was great! Ironic he and Mel died the same week and Paul Fries another great cartoon voice,a month later.
On the banked calls, you proved my point. If your show bogs down, its your own fault and no one elses. Innovate, think for yourself. What works on one ,doesn't work for another a vast majority of the time.

Many reasons why a show can get bogged down. Being in the game you should know that. It's not alway's the jock. I've worked some formats where i was #1 in the daypart and the phones rarely rang, then other formats i've been rated not so good and the phones were hot. When you're in the game you win a few and lose a few.

As a matter of fact i was vising a buddy of mine in SF at the #3 rated station in their target demo. The phones maybe rang 3 or 4 times an hour and this jock is innovative as you get. People in the game realize of course "phones" aren't everything. It's less than 5% of your audience. I'd rather put a Banked Call on the air than put some of the yoyo's i hear on some stations.

Yes, Paul Fries was great too. I liked Daws because he did a variety of voices. Of course for those that don't know he was the voice of Huckleberry Hound. Many thought he patterned the voice after Andy Griffith but he was doing that voice way before Andy became famous.

Good points Laugher.

Daws Butler was also the voice of Yogi Bear, Droopy,Snagglepuss,Ouick Draw McGraw. Paul Fries narrated a lot of movies( intros ,etc) rarely acted on screen ( Taras Bulba with Yul Bryner about Cossocks). He was the voice of Boris Batenov and Fearless Leader of "Bullwinkle" Fame, plus "the Thing" on the first "Fantastic Four " cartoon series. Those guys and Mel sure had fantastic talent.

Yes, and now he is even more famous due to the Geico commercials.

Does anybody else think all the Geico commercials are stupid on TV ???
Especially the cave man series............

Yeah... they used to be funny! Now it's all crap. Did they lose a creative marketing manager or something?

The Gecko ones are somewhat funny and so are the ones using a "famous" person in them, but the Caveman series of commercials just flat out suck !!
