GENE BURNS HAS "MILD" STROKE

JEREMIAH said:
Gene has got to be Superman. I worked with him way back in Orlando and later at KGO. He has always had big medical issues and god knows how many surgery procedures over the years. He always been at the top of his game and never complained to us off the air. In '95 while at KGO he suffered a heart issue, as the paramedics wheeled him out he bellowed "I should have had more red wine".

I brought him a bottle in the hospital.

Lots of fond memories of the Great Burns. We socialized, mostly in Orlando. He even visited my wife in the hospital when she had her gall bladder operation.

Ironic aside: In Orlando he told me that KGO once offered him a job if he would become a conservative on the air. He couldn't do it.

Let's pray he beats the odds again.

I'll do it! 8)

Strokes are nothing to joke about of course. My Dad survived one over a year ago. It was not fun walking into CCU seeing a bunch of tubes coming out of him. It gives me the heebie-jeebies just thinking about it. He is about 95% recovered, thank God.

I wish Mr. Burns a speedie and full recovery.

Pass the wine please. ;D
