I haven't heard them on in awhile. In any case, contests are VERY minimal and the station has virtually no overhead for contests or remotes. WLTW is a one man band

The website lists 9 concurrent contests, several of which are for nice ticket or show packages.

Lite is one of the biggest users of TV in the NY area, with the budget rumored to be around $3 million (another example of this with an AC is Jerry Lee's station in Philly... the biggest user of TV int he market).

Each format has a different mix of promotion, contesting, remotes, etc. An AC will avoid most remotes unless demanded by clients. But they will use lots of TV, as it can be targeted against the AC listener. A hip hop station would be the near opposite.

Don't assume Lite is a cheaper station to operate just because they have less obvious contests. Remember that the biggest part of most station's expenses are sales and G&A, not programming. The first $16 to $20 million of that station's gross probably goes to sales expense.

What does any of the last couple of pages have to do with the death of Gene Pitney? Come on guys wrong board for all this gobbledeegooop! Radio will survive so why all the concern? Top 40's 50's, 60's, & 70's heyday is long gone (at least 26 years) and now well on it's way to the dust bin of history and some museum somewhere! We enjoyed it while it was happening for twenty-five years and twenty-six more years on the many oldies stations we've all known! Now why not just enjoy it by listening to our record collections easily tranfered to our portable music players! And let the new younger generations enjoy radio and music their way!

Actually there should be room for both. Who says radio has to be only for the under 45 crowd? And who says just because music gets old it isnt good anymore? Hmmm, try that with Mozart..... So called new music has been ripping off old school for so long it isnt funny. Its a big world , dont be so exclusive to all types of music -old and new.

It was, in my opinion, lame when it came out and soulds, mostly, fairly dated and bland today.

Listeners over 55 are not wanted. That is because advertisers don't often want to reach them. So, if there is an alternative, go for it and leave the rest of us alone.

How dare you slam a great singer like Pitney! He was the first in the U.S. to record of Keith Richards song.

You are low, David. Take your opinions to you know where...

I liked what that other poster said about how you wouild be the nit picker screaming about liver disease at a New Years Eve party.

BTW... you aren't needed anymore. Read your what-if obiturary that someone else posted here.
