Gigaware $20 portable HD radio

So today I took this radio for a ride. The HD reception is noticeably worse than the Insignia. There was a lot of picket fencing on 50-60 dBu signals that come in clear in the car and on the Insignia. HD reception was only reliable within 10 miles, as compared to 20 miles with the Insignia. I can't let the iPhone go on standby or turn the screen off since the radio will stop playing. The battery died in less than 2 hours with the screen on the whole time. I couldn't get out of the app and use something else in the background. It had those annoying birdies on 90.3 and 95.3. The selectivity is great, it didn't bleed to the adjacent even within 3 miles of a Class B station not transmitting in HD. It didn't overload either.

I wasn't expecting the performance of my Sony XDRF1HD with an outdoor antenna, but I was at least expecting it to perform like the Insignia. If it cost more than $20 I would have returned it. I have been spoiled by the Insignia, I would have loved to have a radio like this when I was in high school.

Using the Sandisk Sansa "SLOT RADIO" with FM/RDS, I get the WRONG Callsigns from ONLY the Clear Channel stations. I'm getting "K" callsigns here in "W" land. Cumulus is fine, the active song titles on Clear Channel are fine, but getting the wrong Clear Channel static station ID that first pops up on the screen. When you find out what's wrong, let me know and I'll contact the 2 engineers.
