Giving up on XM

After listening to XM being destroyed by Mel and his cohorts, I finally had enough and cancelled it. What a nightmare! I had to argue with whatever third world call center idiot I had about why I wanted to cancel the service. After getting the run around for 15 minutes, they transferred me to some higher up third world call center turd that gave me the same runaround, After finally threatening to file a complaint with the state Attorney General's office they finally complied with my wishes. They then proceeded to tell me that I owed them $26 for a months service and asked for my credit card number since I had cancelled the card I had used before. I just started to laugh and told them "you're not getting s**t from me, last time I told you NOT to charge my card you did anyways...so send me a bill." They acted so upset, like I had insulted one of their sacred cows.

I have heard they are giving people s*** when they try to cancel.
I was lucky and only had a dropped call, called right back and told them I will not renew.
The repetitive and very shallow playlists can be found on FM for free. I will pass on paying Mel !

They have offered some people extra programming or extra months to stay subscribed.

Yes and NO ONE SHOULD DO THIS!!!

They have let SIRIUS destroy them and they are crap!!

"Mainstream" garbage you can hear on an AM/FM radio FOR FREE!!

This is true. I took a half-price offer, only because I figured they were in a state a flux after the merger. Hopefully they will get it together in the next few months or I won't renew the next time around.

I refused to sign up for their long term offer before the March 11 deadline. So far they haven't shut off my internet feed as threatened. If they do it's Adios.

I forced myself to listen to FM for a month and then went back to listening to SiriusXM, My goal was to convince myself to cancel SXM but it sounded so good, in comparison, I re-upped for another year.

Have fun listening to FM.

I have to agree with Mr. Haywood

Terrestrial radio is horrible and even though I'm able to receive all the fm's in the Sarasota/Bradenton and the Tampa/St Pete Market..... there's still less and choice there. Both the oldies stations (one in Tampa and the other in Sarasota) have shortened their playlists (even more so than SXM) and both have the same satellite feed in the evening. The smooth jazz station is now satellite 24/7 and other genres of music aren't much better and the commercial load is tremendious.

Also, forget any local news after 7pm on the top rated talk/news station

Maybe SXM's new slogan could be:

"Less Horrible than Terrestrial Radio!" :)

You're right. Even if you find a station you like on terrestrial radio the amount of commercials can drive you nuts.

Of course I should have said: I agree with Mr. Waywood! and the others as well that are continuing with SXM....... not because SXM is so good, but because most terrestrial radio is so horrible.

note to myself: don't post in the morning until at least one cup of coffee has been consumed.

Yea really This morning I turned on the local FM and heard Cannibal Corpse and the Dead Kennedys...no wait.... ::)

IWow, now that I dumped them they sure are going crazy with the Emails to me to try and get me to come back. One of them was "What would it take for you to come back to XMSirius?" I sent back "For Mel to die, for the merger to be undone and for Sirius to drop off the face of the earth forever"

And if you listen to the left end of the dial where the college stations reside you can hear the Dead Kennedys and more great bands like that.

Did you really write that?

the best of xm - the virius (who cares) mlb home plate with no live game channels (PLEASE) Is Terrible BUT The Best of Sirius HAS ALL OF It - dont care for martha tho lol

whats wrong with xm? id rather have XM then sirius ANYDAY - xm gets all the sports which is AWWSOMME!

sirius cant even get a deal with MLB For the live games like xm has now!

come on now, Its Called a MERGER FOR A FREAKING REASON MEL.

:D

::)

Yes, I really wrote that. [and since I wrote that, the emails have stopped, guess they figured out I was really Pi***d off]

With my wife being pregnant, we swapped cars so she has the "safer" vehicle with my built-in XM. I went to a Ford Focus with no XM, and thought I could deal with FM/AM again for my one-hour each way commute. After 1 week, I had dug into my old crap pile, found my original Roady2, installed it, activated it (again) and despite it being through an FM Modulator, my commute is a lot happier.

Despite what is/has happened, I still prefer my XM over FM/AM any day, and actually I like my channels still.

I remember when XM (specifically Fred and Fungus) would actually play the Dead Kennedys (and not just "Holiday In Cambodia"). Instead we get "Hungry Like The Wolf" 6X a day (1st Wave), and what is essentially a talk/lifestyle channel (Faction). This was my biggest pet peeve with the "merger'...replacement channels that were not even close (and far inferior IMHO) to their XM counterparts.

I grumbled about canceling XM until I had to drive a rental car for 7 days when mine was in the body shop. (I have an XM radio to go which I use in the house, in the car, and on my belt. But I left the antenna and power connector adapter in the car while it was in the shop.) After trying to listen to local Atlanta radio for those 7 days when driving, I decided that I couldn't do without the XM. I still listen to the internet stream in my office without paying an additional charge.
