Glenn Ordway is out at WEEI

1200? Only if CC wants to make them the FIFTH sports station in town (Ordway and Fox
Sports), which I doubt, too much competition. (93.7, 98.5, 850, 1510, etc.) Ordway said on
air there are 2 sports stations in town. He must have forgot 1510 or 850 (sep. programming
including some local play by play/college sports I think, unless you consider 850/93.7 as
one entity)

Good for Mike Salk!
This is a HUGE opportunity!
I've been listening to him on 710 for a few years now, it was nice to have a fellow Sox, Pats & B's fan and New Englander out here in Seattle.
He's been doing a lot of fill ins for ESPN from Seattle for a few years now in addition to his duties with Brock Huard hosting middays on KIRO this is a GREAT hire by WEEI to bring in a younger, strong sports talent to their station.
They do need to also replace D&C, time to get younger, dare I suggest the name Ryen Russilo?
I do that not as a jab at Dennis but when I first saw that Salk was going to WEEI I thought to myself - why not try to pry him away from the SVP show on ESPN radio and have a powerhouse duo in the afternoons but then as I thought about remaking WEEI why not bring Russilo in as the main talent in the mornings?
Pair him with another strong host and they would give T&R a run for the ratings!
I also think that Salk is going to cut into Spaulding & Mazz's #'s in the afternoon at the Sports Hub and for the love of all that's good and decent how about FINALLY getting rid of Mike Adams?
He's a joke! get a hard core sports guy who can also not be as robotic as Ted Sarandis, that would be another change I would make there as well.
There's lots of great sports talent out there some young, some mid career all who would LOVE to both be in a tremendous sports town like Boston and work at a heritage station like WEEI.

Rusillo works with Scott Van Pelt on ESPN for now indeed but who knows length of contract etc

"Is this Rossillo or Rotillo or...? John Dennis...Rotillo...I don't know who the ---- you are. I
GUESS you're with the Zone..." (that famed voicemail message)

>>What about 680? I could see Ordway morphing into a conservative talker

Entercom is prob trying to shed salary...they would keep him on but put him on RKO?
Who knows; 1510? 98.5 weekends? Cable? Podcasts?

I may have missed it, but did Ordway just say that Felger hates hockey? Or was he referring to Mazz?

The Big O is one of the best broadcasters in Boston history. He was a v.good PbP guy and talk host going back to the 70's. He never forced Johnny out. EEI's problems start with morning drive.

Again I don't think they've done a horrible job (though significant mistakes were made). They just got their ass handed to them by the other guys. They lost.

He's also not done.

I'm sure he'll still do stuff for CSNNE.

I'd love to see him do play-by-play again (maybe even for ESPN Radio), not that he'd ever replace Grande on the C's (Grande's too good).

Here's something to think about, wouldn't it be fun if he goes away for a month or so, they fire D&C and Big O is the new morning host on the station?
I know if they were going to do that they would have done it all in one big swipe but it would be interesting to say the least.
They could reunite Big O with Pete in the morning that would be a fun show to listen to, not that we haven't heard it before but I think the day part makes the show be a bit different than their afternoon drive show would be if they did it then.

Hows this for an FU move.....make Ordway the new voice of the Patriots!

Crazy how much has changed in past few years. These guys at EEI were making millions, now they can't be dumped fast enough. Can't wait to see what happens to D & C. Seems like yesterday they were walking on the beach :p

Years ago many he said The Hub had no shot. WEEI guys said the same thing. Pretty sure they're not saying that now. This stuff has happened all over the country. The establishment gets old, stubborn, stale & lazy. Then a younger station, backed by a big time radio operator comes in and eventually changes the landscape.

Those who don't know their history are doomed to repeat it.

many he said The Hub had no shot.

Not accurate. Go back on these boards to see differently. There was always a concern that a well-staffed FM would do immediate damage to EEI's ratings stranglehold.
The surprise was it happened more decisively than thought possible. Which told you that a younger demo didn't like EEI in spite of their terrific numbers, high-priced talent and station of the year status.
