Flipping around the dial, the only thing I can see is that Audacy was affected by this outage. None of their stations have Artist/Title info.

100.3 HD2’s text says “KJJK HD2 / Classic Country”.

And this is a "Global IT Outage" how?
British TV networks and other services around the world were affected, these articles explains more:

It is sensationalistic. I added another article that gives a bigger picture of the problem.
Agreed. Where I work relies really heavily on AWS and their cloud platform. Amazon Web Services had something like five outages or periods with limitations last year.
You never saw titles like Global IT Outage being thrown around even though a lot of businesses were affected.

In reading more details, it seems there were two unrelated incidents: Customers of CrowdStrike cyber security platforms pushed a bad update that affected Microsoft products being run on various PC's and servers, and Microsoft Azure Cloud was having issues for customers running on their platform.
From Datacenter Dynamics:
"In a status update, Microsoft said: "A backend cluster management workflow deployed a configuration change causing backend access to be blocked between a subset of Azure Storage clusters and compute resources in the Central US region. This resulted in the compute resources automatically restarting when connectivity was lost to virtual disks."

It's affecting flights all over the world, so that's "Global". Banking, Hospitals, "911 calls" and others are also experiencing issues. I expect they will get it resolved.

It seems that the threads holding modern society together are extremely fragile...

I just titled this post how our industry has reported it. I didn’t just make this up. I actually changed the title a couple of times before I landed on, “Global IT Outage”.

It would have been nice to do some research to determine whether it's hyperbole or what exactly.
Excuse me?! You’re the only one who’s having a total meltdown about a title on forum. 😂

A "meltdown" by asking what you meant by a Global IT outage? Seems like you might be prone to hyperbole.
I’d you would’ve done your research and taken 2 seconds to search “Global IT Outage” in your favorite search engine, you would’ve found your answer. Have a great day! 🙂

Our local Audacy all news radio station (KYW in Philly) stated they couldn’t get some music cues (eg intro to traffic reports) working Also, for some period their prerecorded overnight news wasn’t running as I heard national CBS news long form programs around 4:30 AM

I also noticed early this morning that WINS was using an old top-of-hour ID/music bed that just said 1010 WINS and doesn't mention 92.3 FM.

This should be moved to National Radio.

Several local TV stations across the country could not broadcast news last night or this morning. KOMO Seattle had no 11pm news last night (after RNC), nor did KSHB Kansas City (NBC) this morning.
WCCO Minneapolis couldn't air local news either.

I'm hearing a lot of restaurants are having issues with POS (point-of-sale) today including Starbucks and Marco's Pizza.
Some people aren't even getting their direct deposits at several banks across the country, and in other parts of the U.S., non-essential work is closing in government buildings and hospitals.

EDIT: Seems to have been worse in Australia and New Zealand...entire ABC radio and TV network went down for 2-3 hours, early this morning U.S. time. Sky News as well.

The reliance on computers and corporations will be the downfall of Civilization. I get the cheapening of services for increased profit for the shareholders. "Gotta make the quarter's numbers". But if you can't deliver your service because the geniuses at Microsoft and their vendors can't properly test an update, how is that increasing profits? I realize a huge number of IT folks only do programs that run on an Microsoft operating system. If I was running things they would have to learn Linux or sharpen their fast food skills.

A really smart IT guy told me to switch over to a Linux system. He claims the hackers use Linux because they don't want to infect their own computers. Linux is a derivative of Unix which the old Lucent (now Nokia) switches ran on 99.9999% reliably. Also Linux doesn't have as many updates.

The "industry" has really done everyone a huge disservice by pushing "cloud" services. All the "cloud" is a distance server doing what you're PC use to do. I totally get and encourage off site back up, but to totally have your stuff in the Internet is insane for at least 2 reasons. #1 If there is an issue with the Internet you are shut down. #2 Sooner or later the hackers will get to it.

A tip for 9 to 5 office environments only. Turn off your PC at when you leave the office. Turn off the automatic updates. Unless it is an national emergency wait a couple of days to do the updates. If it is a bad update let someone else experienced it.

This was a GLOBAL problem. AP's title was Worldwide Internet Outage. Even AP had some intermittent issues because of it. Broadcasters in the UK and Australia (among other places) could not do their morning shows. Several radio stations got knocked off the air because of it. I'm told that KMOX St. Louis wound up with just an open carrier for a while.

Locally, WFAA-TV could not use many of their systems for their morning show. It was done with anchors in the newsroom and with reporters doing live streams from Iphones showing the massive problems at Dallas Love Field and DFW Airport. (they eventually got their LiveUs working, but stayed in the newsroom the whole morning)

One does wonder if this will cause companies to rethink some of their policies and plans for "the cloud" in the future.
