GMAZ Weekend Weather Forecasters

Saturday GMAZ now has Paul Horton doing weather production. Pete Mangione has been given special assignments weather IIRC.
Horton has a few co-workers in common formerly at KXLY Spokane, WN. Nicole Crites, April Warneke, Jared Dillingham, Mark McClune & Kylee Cruz.
Not all simultaneously but a couple are...

I thought that was a nice graphic. KXLY has a pipeline to KTVK

And it's official, during Sunday August 3rd GMAZ, it was announced Paul Horton is the permanent weekend morning meteorologist.

Surprised, because I'm sure I heard Paul say he did not want to work mornings anymore.

Also good news. Paul has an ease about himself and can work with anyone.

Interesting weather moves. I still can't figure out weekdays. Royal and Holly seem to be jumping around all over the place.

@brian4, you're (surprisingly) a week late, buddy! It was announced originally on 7/26.

I do agree that Paul fits well with the weekend GMAZ team! He was bantering with them all morning on Sunday. It does sound like management decided to shke up the weather team, so perhaps Paul really didn't have much choice.

Yikes! The way it was said when I heard it, they made it seems like this was the official announcement of Paul taking over weekends.

Moving Holly Bock to weekdays gives her a chance to learn directly from Royal and Sean. As Former mentioned, Holly is the weakest of the AZ Family weather team. But she's also the newest on a team with a lot of heavy hitters.

Good point. I wonder if Holly is working on a meteorology degree? She's the only one on the team who's not an actual certified "meteorologist". I seem to remember that April wasn't a meteorologist at first when she started at 3TV.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Bock was studying for a certification.

Same here...I'm sure that she is studying to get her certification like April and Brittney Shipp did. It appears that Beck's main assignment is 4pm and 8pm weather. She seems to fit well on those "lighter" newscasts.

It seems interesting that the Chief Met (Royal) is doing the noon, 3pm, and 5pm weather only. I'm assuming that he is getting close to retirement at this point. Therefore, they want to feature Sean on the later newscasts (6, 9, and 10).

Aren't Royal and Sean about the same age? They both have to be getting close now.

I :) every time this board talks about (Norman, McLaughlin, Hook, Pasmore, Curtis, etc.) retiring. If you scroll down is board for 10+ years, "[Blank] should be retiring soon" is mentioned a lot.

Eventually we got it right: Rick D'Amico is either on his boat or at the gun range.

Possibly. I did some research a few years ago that indicated that Sean was a few years younger than Royal. However, when I use ChatGPT today, it does appear that they are roughly the same age. So, I retract my previous statement.

At the end of the day, it depends if Gray is willing to shell out the $$$$ to keep both of them (and whether they have kids in college and other family obligations). Honestly, I rarely see Royal anymore because I'm usually working at 12, 3, and 5. Are they going to keep paying the big bucks to have someone do the afternoon weather?
