WOSC, 96 Rock Bethany Beach is strutting. New format on the way. Don & Mike are moving. WTGM may be getting Don & Mike since they didn't show in the last book.

About time. 96 Rock just never amounted to anything against the long-established WZBH. When your direct competitor has more than 3 times the ratings, that's not a good sign.

Not to mention, 96 Rock was always tweaking, and nothing really stuck for them. They started out as a hard Classic Rocker. Then they were Alternative. Then Active Rock. The DC personalities didn't seem to translate well to the Eastern Shore either, competing against the live and local Beach.

My guess is that Clear Channel will be putting their CHR Kiss here. It's been doing pretty well on the weak 105.5 signal. 95.9 would give them better coverage in Delaware and at the MD shore.

Or Not...

While a format flip would make a lot of sense, DCRTV is reporting that 96 Rock is just going to be moving Don & Mike to mornings.

Espanol, 99.1 format coming to the shore.

Good news for WRXS

...and it was a turn for the worse. What once was a nice Modern-leaning Active Rocker with a harder slant, is now just your boring middle-of-the-road generic Clear Channel Rock Station. It's being billed as "The New 96 Rock - Better Rock Period", and it sounds exactly like the rock station in (insert city and state here). Now they're playing more classic rock, Green Day, Weezer, even (shudder) the absolutely terrible Creed! Does Clear Channel actually think this is going to improve their ratings? HA! If anything they just helped out WVBH (93.5 The Beach) - no one who liked the old 96 Rock will like this station. After the next ratings book, I'm almost positive there will be another format flip - this time it will be to reggaeton or something.
