The PPM will tell the tale pretty quickly on this move.

Seems stupid to me. You are going to blow off everyone on radio-info. I'd just stick with the wide playlist, bad imaging and enjoy the one share 25-54. LOL.
Wonder if Jay Kelly and the old KBSG staff will be back? Where are they?
Who cares? Jay Kelly stinks and ruined every station he programmed.

You and dunno are right. While I am definitely no fan of Jay Kelly, my comment was rude and I apologize.
You didn 't really express that about Jay, did you? Disgustingly rude and disturbingly insensitive.

EXACTLY---so instead of being something different musically, let's copy another FM in the market and give listeners less choice.

Whoever was programming it not only respected the music, but knew how to make it work as more than the sum of its playlist. To rely on auditorium research to determine a radio station playlist is foolish. As a trained researcher myself, it's an artificial environment from the more intimate practice of listening to the radio in the car or at home/work, and while you can "test" songs for certain factors, using that to exclude 90% of the music library is stupid.
Now, whenever I punch KMCQ on my car radio, I'm hearing a harder-edged rock song that I've tuned out from other stations for years, and not catching any of those "hey, wow" numbers that caught the respect of this child of the 1960s-70s-80s (I was a late bloomer). I haven't lingerd long enough to hear jingles or liners or anything else that's "New and Improved!!"
There's an art to radio that is lost on most of the corporate drones, and even the move to call it "Q" seems terribly stale and unncessary. And, if you read the Seattle Weekly "best of Seattle" paragraph, you'll see that it was what KMCQ used to do that caught a lot of attention, and gave it a respectable ratings share without any promotion or even much of an audio set up. Not this.
Lonely Summer said:What's the point in being KJR, Jr? If people like what KJR plays, they will listen to KJR. It's got name recognition, and some known on air talent. KMCQ has nothing now. Thankfully, I can usually get KGHO on my car radio, they play a lot of what KMCQ WAS playing.
