Mix of classic rock / 80's "hair" band music heard with no commercials heard.
That's very likely because the owners of the station have no usable sales data with which to sell commercials.

New member on the board here.
I'm still getting a decent copy of WWCD's signal 60 miles away on 102.5 MHz.
Mix of classic rock / 80's "hair" band music heard with no commercials heard. Station ID also heard at the top of the hour.
If I'm not mistaken don't this station broadcast from an old AT&T Long Lines Microwave Communications tower ???
I will say – the folks over at Lazo Media “La Mega 103.1 WVKO-FM” can not be happy about this move by Radio One/102.5.
In the press release, Urban One says that the station will program a "regional Mexican and tropical" in a mix aimed at Mexicans, Central and South Americans.
If that is true, La Mega has nothing to worry about. That's an "oil and water" mix...
Possibly new calls for them: WWLG.
Have you had a chance to listen yet? I actually enjoy it, but of course, I'm not the target audience. The music is, as you might expect, all over the place -- from romantic ballads, to accordion-heavy Mexican tracks, to reggaeton numbers full of heavily processed vocals. Oh, and they're using the positioner "Solo Exitos!" (That old-fashioned word again!) All I can figure is that Columbus doesn't have a dominant national origin for its Spanish-speaking population and Urban One thinks it might be able to scare up advertising from all businesses serving the different Hispanic ethnicities in the city rather than just the ones specifically catering to Mexican or Dominican or Colombian, etc.
Per Radioinsight, it looks like CD might be going to the 92.9 translator?
I don't think many alternative fans are going to flock to AM radio for music.
Keep in mind that they will get a royalty discount if they stream an OTA station. If they're stream-only, they pay full rate.
When iHM last programmed an Alternative station locally, it earned much better numbers than the crappy ratings 105.7 is generating today.
I'd be very surprised if iHM doesn't flip 105.7.
Guess what? They did:

They'll be plugging in various iHeart talent at some point:

I don't see CD102.5's "core" base tuning over to iHeart's attempt but this should at least net them some listeners - heck they were not doing well with the previous format on 105.7 so anything is worth a try.
I like it! it's a Spanish jack fm! Good for radio one for trying something new!
