Goodbye Estereo Latino??

Maybe it will change names on the night like Juan said. But I dont know if thats true, I asked Estereo Latinos fans about it and they said yes. It changing monday, but I guess we have to find out on monday if there are any changes.
You misunderstood me, I said they may try a new hourly segment every night and you probably heard the name of it. Why would a good station change names when it is very popular by almost all Houstonians.

To me its out dated, a throw back to the 70s. The use of the word "Stereo" told the listener that this station is broadcasting in stereo. Why would you need to include that when stereophonic audio is the standard these days. Digital Latino would seem to make more sense but then again thats my people... sticking to things long since passed. :/ It's time for a change but I think they should have done it gradually. Using it less and less.

And we won't even get into the quadraphonic argument, either. Did any of the Houston area stations try the quadraphonic broadcasting systems back in the 70s?

KLOL was quad for period of time. I remember a bumper sticker which reflected that in the lower right corner.

I had a Pioneer 747 which was Quad and SQ (synthesized quad) The SQ was great. The song, "Lizzie & The Rainman" by Tanya Tucker had a nice drum piece in it which represented thunder. That drum rift started in the front left, moved to the front right, traveled to the back right and winding up in the back left. The sound was incredible.

just on a quick update estero latino 107.1 is now on the air in Dallas and brindis is on the air with his morning show in market # 5 and no Estero Latino will not be changing its name...dont expect anything new.. i learned a long time ago if its not broken dont fix it!

How would listeners know even if this absurdity were true?

To relate this sentiment to the whole Houston radio-info board, the dumbing down of this board is making it really, really hard to read at times...

Yes he is, he who is this Chopo guy heisalwaystalking about? He said that the guy went to another station to work.

Purpledevil: You mentioned the old 102.9 KQUE...did you know Ronnie Renfrow is doing a great job playing some of the greatest artists today (like Chris Botti, who's hot right now) doing *standards* -- along with salsa, blues and jazz -- on KIKK-AM 650 in the afternoons these days? Wish he had a better signal.

Yes I do, Mike. I had mentioned in a prior post some time back that if KBME doesn't survive the KGOW invasion, that I'd like to see Great Radio Houston purchase the time from Clear Channel to put the swing/standards back on KBME where it should be. 3 or so hours a day is just not enough time for the "Greatest Music of All Time". He and Tom do a magnificent job with their song selection in the short amount of time they have to work with at KIKK. I also enjoy the show when you fill-in for them. It's great to hear you spinning music again, if only on occassion. Not saying anything against your time spent at KFNC, however your delivery of the standards is quite smooth and takes me back to the good old days. Any chance you are going to be more involved in Great Radio Houston on a more permanent basis?

Uh oh, busted by purpledevil!I really thank you for giving the station a listen. Sorry for the thread drift...I wish I could do more with Ronnie and the guys at KIKK Swingin' 650 but I have a new baby to keep in the afternoons and besides, I don't think the guys at my "other" work would like it. Just my luck, because the music is great and I love working with dese guys.
