Goodbye, FOX Reality Channel

A competitor to BBC America, what with Fox's ties to SKY and ITV?

I'd like to see a competitor to BBC World News with Sky News ...

There shouldn't be a problem carrying this on US cablecos if BBC-WN is there. :)

I'd love to see this too. However, I have a feeling that we're seeing the same thing on cable as we do on the radio: "strategic programming." Why should Fox program a news channel (Sky) that may take away viewers from their own news channel? This is the biggest problem you run into when a few companies own most of the slots.

Again, I would LOVE to have access to Sky News, but I can see why they won't do it.

Would be nice to be able to get BBC World properly 24/7 instead of snippets in BBC America's schedule.

Sky News would be fine too... they actually tend to have more live news and less commentary... Fox News Channel is more like a Fox Opinion Channel to me, and opinions I don't necessarily share.

Heck a real unbiased news channel would be nice. Period.

Mark.

Since Fox already has a crapload of sports channels (the regional Fox Sports Networks, Fox Soccer Channel, Fuel, Speed Channel, etc) would one more specialty sports channel be all that suprising? I imagine Fox Reality Channel has digital cable clearance in most of the country, so it wouldn't be a waste of bandwidth if it was a niche sports channel.
What do you think Fox Soccer Channel is?

And let's not forget they also have the three Fox College Sports channels, FX, & the Fox Movie Channel too. I really can't see Fox replacing the Reality channel with anything.

BTW.....Doesn't it seem quite interesting that Fox makes this decision on the heels of the Heene incident from last week or is it just me?

Cheers :D

For the life of me, I cannot understand why this is the only country on Earth (aside from perhaps Cuba and Myanmar) where BBC World is not distributed. And the newscasts on BBC America are tailored for US audiences - which is not really what I want to see.

Again, I would love to have access to a number of international news channels including Sky News, CTV's newschannel, CBC Newsworld, and some of those serving India and the Middle East. The international perspective would be a welcome option (whether I agree with it or not) as would the opportunity to see live coverage of breaking events from people who actually know the terrain. Unlike US journalists, a shockingly high percentage of whom couldn't even find Bangladesh or Malaysia on a globe.

Personally, I don't mind Fox News - but they were at their very best during the London Underground terrorist bombings when they just took the feed from Sky. I've always preferred Sky News to BBC when across the pond.

I get BBC World 24/7 on Verizon FiOS channel 107. There was some talk of DirecTV picking it up but I switched so I didn't keep up. I would think if Verizon can do it other providers should have no problems.
