Gray purchases Meredith station group

WGCL has removed all traces of Meredith material (People on TV, magazine covers) from their site. The Gray synergy has already been affected.

KTVK/KPHO is now showing Gray Media Group at the end of their newscasts, but the AZFamily.com website still says Meredith.

I wonder if the former Meredith stations will downgrade the “People on TV” show? KTVK kicked ET to a late night time slot for this experiment. Not that I care about show biz tabloid shows, but I’d imagine ET is still more popular.

WGCL/WPCH still has Meredith's e-mail address regarding their privacy policy. I expect that will change soon.

I thought people was going into larger syndication.

That could change since the magazine portfolio is now in the hands of Barry Diller. It's pretty risky to nationally launch a syndicated show when broadcast TV ratings are dropping.

Who owns the rights to People on TV. Are they licensing the name?

Wikipedia has updated their entry on WGCL/WPCH reflecting the Gray ownership.

Another factor in the Meredith deal is that Dotdash takes over brands like People, Better Homes & Gardens, Food & Wine, Allrecipes, Southern Living, InStyle and Real Simple are now managed by Barry Diller's IAC group.

Hoping the former Meredith stations get the Gray website template eventually. The Gray sites are a lot easier to navigate and have less fluff/clutter.

CBS Hartford has "Gray Television" at the bottom of the channel 3 website. I doubt much would change on-air now, since this station usually wins the area ratings. Also, the recent changes also effect the Western Mass News station cluster up in Springfield/Holyoke.

and now KCTV is airing a Time Life infomercial at 6:30PM instead of People Now

Already the People show is being dropped? Only a matter of time before all of them do.
