Great Eastern Programming Possibilities

Let us not forget that the only reason Oldies 99(WNNH) and Oldies 104(WLKZ) were blown up, was because 102.3 and 101.5 were suppose to become WEEI and Nassau figured that the classic rock hole would be replaced with Frank on those frequencies. If the WEEI deal had never been a possbility, there is still a chance that 104.9 and 99.1 would still be Oldies.

Living in The Lakes Region.. anything live and local would be nice. There is nothing at all after AM drive and that mostly sucks around here. If you want local news after 9A it's WBZ. Everything else is canned crap. That's about it. BTW, where is Jeff Shapiro based out of?

There is one live station. WFTN-FM 94.1 is live until 6pm. WHOM (last I knew), Rock 101 and WZID are live daytime as well, albeit not Lakes Region stations.

I find it hard to believe that WHOM isn't VT'ed, there is so little jock presence it makes no sense.
You didn't mention WOKQ. If they're tracked, they do a damn good job with it! Again, not LR, but likely more of an audience in the LR than either 'ZID or Rock 101.
Does Rock 101 have any live shifts outside of AM drive? I'm a bit out of the demo, but last I heard they were VT'ed from Portsmouth. It is Clear Channel after all.

The above stations all do pretty well as far as AM drive goes, but I guess I am looking for something along the lines on news/talk. The Franklin station doesn't do well over here and with the exception of OKQ & ZID the news dept. just doesn't exist. ZID tries but with the loss of Ed really doesn't have any credibility anymore. OKQ, well I am not that much of a country fan. I think they are the only station around that doesn't VT but I could be wrong. News/Talk would work around here if done properly.

Sidenote.... any idea on what JS paid for the 2 stations?

Never quite got the obsession with "I won't listen if it's taped ahead of time."

One of my all time favorite radio shows brings wit, (laugh out loud) entertainment, information, it's relatable and compelling. It's called Car Talk.
Airs on Saturday and Sunday, TAPES on Friday.
How bout Wait Wait Don't Tell Me? Airs on the weekends, tapes on Thursday!

There are good AND crappy live-local and the same applies in recording ahead of time.

Looking for secure work and loads of money now and in the future?

If Car Talk "Tapes" on Friday...where do the the phoned in questions that come from all over the country come from? Ghost Writer?

Maybe it's the cynic in me, but I'll bet a dollar those shows are brokered.

Did you know that WFEA does LIVE talk shows wed, thur and fri? Wed is a health show, Thurs a food show, and Fri a financial show. Live

WTPL 107.7FM THE PULSE...Live and Local (excepty a midday Dennis Miller Show) AM Drive, Mid-Afternoons and Later PM Drive.

All calls are pre-screened days ahead of recording from the 1-888-CARTALK.

I've been told Mr. Shapiro paid less than $1M for the THREE FM signals. Two transactions will have to take place but the all in price was below the Million mark. Will like to see what he paid for 102.3FM.
WOW!

I wouldn't be surprised, Blueberry bough the entire Clear Channel Maine Cluster for 11 million bucks....17 stations

Things are too quite. Nothing at the commission. Nothing from Nassau or Shapiro. Nassau is moving out but WTPL seems to be staying put for now. Nassau stations failing technically. There's movement, just nothing solid. Anyone else find this weird?

So what IS their time frame. THE HAWK moves to 104.9 November 4th. 101.5 remains...quiet at that point? 99.1 can keep Franki-ing for awhile.

Somebody has to do something fairly soon.

I'm hearing that station moves (WJYY, WNHW and WFNQ) could happen within 2 weeks. Has Mr. Shapiro made any move of 107.7 to Hooksett? If not, Nassau would have to move 104.9 too.

Buyers remorse, maybe?

Jeff and his crew are VERY smart business folks.
Just a thought, seeing the value drop and lack of any other buyers they may be looking to renegotiate.

Once the deal closes the cost of doing business will explode. Electric bills, taxes, payroll, Hooksett lease, tower rentals, just to name a few.

Formats for 99.1 and 102.3? All of the good ones are taken. Are you prepared to spend to go to battle?
Can you make money with these? What will be attractive to the advertisers? They've had great success with TPL. A niche format that many advertisers love.

101.5? Do you want to spend that kind of cash to simulcast?
Will the advertisers be willing to pay more? Most likely not.
What will the value be of these in say 2-5 or 10 years? The landscape was a whole lot different in 1999.
None of us can predict the future but you need to look down the road.

Take a look at the Verizon-Fairpoint deal. You didn't need a masters in business to figure this one out.
Verizon saw the future and it ain't land lines. Fairpoint was obviously not smart enough to take a deep breath, leave their egos at the door and realize what they were getting themselves in to.
There were no other buyers waiting in line, why not take your time and purchase on your terms or be prepared to walk.

Just my two cents rubbing together.

I thought there were other buyers for Nassau? I heard Clark Schmidt was in for at least 99.1... Jeff Fisher I heard wanted 101.5... Religous groups... Humphrey for 102.3... Mr. Silverberg was in on it to I thought. I don't think there was a lack of buyers. Buyers remorse... maybe. Could he have gotten a look at the actual expenses of the Hooksett facility and start to figure out how he would get his signals out and the expense of that... AND the expense of doing the formats he wants to do...etc. I would think he would have that all lined up before buying. Maybe something has changed. It sure is not dull watching from the sidelines. Should be interesting to see what happens and when. Also, has WCRB been filed at the commission yet?
