Greatest Intros in Rock

Unless you're into bass you may not appreciate an intro I like, but the bass is the lead in this record:

There are many, and these two come to mind without a lot of thought:
"Who Are You" and "Won't Get Fooled Again" - the Who

As long as you're speaking of the Who--"I Can See For Miles" has a good intro too.

Alan Freeman a very famous UK DJ used to use that on his show opening "Pick of the Pops".

And the "tune-out" factor in the first couple of seconds in some of these. For instance, the other day, I heard Whitney Houston's version of "I Will Always Love You" on Mix 92.9, and I hit the dial to change it as soon as I heard the "If I" at the intro!

For these guys, my vote goes to "Call Me Lightning"

Another one I thought of....

No significant U.S. airplay to my knowledge....but Canadians (or anyone familiar with can-con) might agree with me on "Thirsty Ears" by Powder Blues (an early 80s Vancouver group). Another Canadian hit that comes to mind with a great intro is "Sunny Days" by Lighthouse. That one did briefly chart on this side of the border, if memory serves.
