GREENSBORO ARBITRON

The "Jack" formats are tanking everywhere. I'm really surprised nobody in Charlotte tried it. 95.7 is the closest thing in that they'll play 2 or 3 really strong classic rock tunes, then wreck the train with the 4 Tops or some such ridiculous nonsense. Dave could really do some damage if only he would pick a format and stick to it.

Gary - while there is nobody better with an 8100 with a modified card 5 - gotta disagree with the 'Jack formats are tanking everywhere' statement, its not based on fact. Look at Nashville, LA, St. Louis and Phoenix to mention a few and you will find 'Jack'/Variety Hits in the 1 or 2 spot 25-54. In the right market dynamic, they work. Yes, there are failures as there are with any format.

Art- you should hear the 8400 with a little help! Sure- there are a few Jack formatted stations that are making the grade, usually in markets where the standard formats are 2 or 3 deep... But if you look at the overall national trends with this format, there isn't such a rosy picture. I suppose tho, as long as a given format is marketable, regardless of ratings, it's viable.

Flavor of the month format.......Most of those songs haven't been played in years because they AREN'T THAT GOOD! The "wow" factor burns out prettttty quickly with those tunes.

If your going with an 8400, use the firmware with the Gregg setting. WOW!
But I was referring to your little set-up at WWMG Now that station smoked
in the Daulton days...

setup? ...what setup?.... (mischevious grin) The Ogonowski package is real smooth and plenty loud, but there can be a LOT done with an as shipped box too.
