Greensboro Ratings

I agree that this is a strange book, HOWEVER, with the format changes, the market has done a lot of shifting. I think there were some sampling irregularities that will probably prove out in the next
Arbitron. I'm not taking anything away from WZTK, but they've been around for several years now, and to suddenly pop up like that is a little odd.

I agree that a 4-book average is especially helpful in evaluating a mature station, however, once again, I have to think that all the changes in the Triad market might not make that practical. Many of the stations were not around for four books, and the emergence of new stations has greatly effected other stations in the market. Those changes won't be evident in a 4-book average. For instance, if you're buying WTQR with a 4-book average, you're not getting an accurate reflection of the station's worth TODAY (since The Walf came on the scene). On the reverse side, if you're buying WMAG based on the Fall book, you're seeing their inflated Christmas music numbers...also not an accurate reflection of who they are TODAY. Ahhh Arbitron...we need a better system!!! Come on People Meter...or whatever will wind up being the new method of ratings.

I'm worried about WIST. They have very few commercials.

WIST has a policy never to run more than 3 commercials in a row. It's not a station that you would sell ratings on anyway, so a down book doesn't really mean a whole lot for them. I know folks there, and they seem to feel that the station is just fine. No need to worry about them.
I like this policy. More music!

I'm glad to hear they think things are fine.

Yes, the format is supposed to be clean and clutter-free. Beautiful music for Country listeners! Ha-ha!

No Espanol on 98.3 for the forseeable future- that coming from the top at GHB.

Did you get your info directly from Jake Bogan? Are you a highly trained broadcast executive at GHB? Are you attending the monthly radio meeting with Dave Compton and Wes Jones that some of us aren't supposed to know about? How about switching the sports format from 790 khz to 98.3 mhz with some local sports talk thrown in. Let us know more info "coming from the top" at GHB.

As a matter of fact, he did get his information DIRECTLY from Jake Bogan. As did I. Any more questions? 8)

Bob- whomever YOU are...how I know what I know is, frankly, none of your business. But to answer your "question"- yes, it came directly from Jake- to the staff there, via the GM...that's about as "direct" as it gets.

No Dennis Ray, no more questions. If I was Jake I would be thirlled that what I told my my GM and staff was being discussed in public on this forum. And the info is confirmed by a CC employee. From the tone of the responses to my last post, I must have hit a nerve.

Didn't I hear on this board that they're going to retire in a couple years anyway?

They "told" Premiere last April to "go get as much money as you can...we're done in 5 years"

Because CC owns JB&B! Pretty simple!

That they do....but I also hear VBZ is paying more for JB&B than what a local morning team would get

When I found out what stations pay for that show I almost choked. Far more than a local show would cost for anyone..

And maybe the local show won't voice track 4 days a week....won't play 8 minute records...and actually produce a new bit in less than 6 years

They give themselves too much credit.
They've been done for five years already. :D

I had a scare the other day. I turned to 98.3 and they were talking about the programming coming up on The Ball like I was on The Ball. The country music came back, though. What a relief.

I keep hearing "WTIX Winston-Salem" at the top of every hour, separately from "WIST Thomasville" or whatever they say.
