Gresh... he has to go.

I love just about every thing on 98.5 The Sports Hub. I'm at the point where I can't take Gresh at all. I like Zolak so I try to put up with him, but I can't do it. I hate his voice, his opinions, and the way he runs the show. Sometimes he slips into a Felger speech pattern too. I wish they would pair Zo up with Hardy or Adam Jones. Anything by Andy Gresh!

He is so bad I flip between Laura Ingraham and Glenn Beck.

You are so right! I had to register here so I could agree with you. Who should we email at 98.5 to let the station know how we feel? I would never want anyone to lose his or her job, but he is so bad at it, perhaps moving him into a strictly football commentating roll?

thats what happened with zolaks last cohost!! and does anyone think that any of the cohost on the old big show make there way to the sports hub like steve burton he works for cbs after all!!

I liked Gary Tanguay with Zolak, I don't know why they gave up on those two so soon. I know Gresh became available when he wasn't good enough to be on SiriusXM.

As much as I like Zolak, I wouldn't mind if they brought in a whole new mid day show. There is some good young fill in hosts who I'd like to hear more often. ANYTHING BUT ANDY GRESH!! He might even be a nice guy, I don't know him. I wish he'd go back to Providence or something where I don't have to hear him.

Tanguay and Zolak was my preferred sports talk show, since it wasn't hack juvenile humor but real intelligent sports talk.

Gresh is loud & obnoxious just like a lot of sports fans, think about it, usually sports fans fall into 2 categories, the ones who know what they're talking about and don't have to shout you down and then the other guy who knows a little bit, makes stats up as he goes along and when in doubt tries to shout you down.
Zo is the former and Gresh is the latter, he can be entertaining in small doses but a consistent diet is like eating 7-8 Fenway Franks on a July Saturday day game in the bleachers eventually you're going to feel sick.
I had Gresh on a sports show I used to produce in another market where we would hit the major sports stories of the day city by city and we'd get a media member from that city to talk about the story.
I told Gresh I was from Boston and a Sox fan, he procedded to make some comments about certain Mariner players that while I wouldn't consider myself P.C. even I was like "Really? tell me you didn't just say that" mind you of course this was on the phone and not on the air as I was getting him ready to go on the air with our host.
It was at that point I said - man the way he is on the air and how he conducts himself that's how he was on the phone with me which means that's how he probably is in his daily life.
Made me look at him in a whole new light.

He was tolerable when he did the pre and postgame shows on WBCN. Now that it's the Sports Hub, he's become unlistenable. That's on the PD, not the host.

I bought a new car a couple of weeks ago...it only has six FM presets, not 12 like my previous car. 98.5 got the boot.

My god, I feel like I wrote the original post LOL

There is one, and only one thing wrong with the Sports Hub, and that indeed is Gresh. He is gross and ugly (which of course on radio I guess shouldn't matter.... but his voice is awful, which that is important...and he just sounds like an idiot....

Adam Jones should be in his spot

[color=blue.........real intelligent sports talk.........[/color]

Gresh is of the ilk as Tank, and how long did it take them to show Tank the door?

I couldn't agree more about Adam Jones. I think he's the best fill in-weekend guy 98.5 has. I would rather hear Zo and Adolfo than Gresh.

Agreed, Adam Jones would be nice and if they could get Dan Shaughnessy to take a full time role! 98.5 would crush the ratings... Even Dale Arnold would be better then Gresh, I simply can't listen to the midday show anymore.

I have a feeling that 98.5's mid-day show will start picking up listeners at the expense of WEEI. You might be stuck with Gresh for some time to come. There has to be someone way up in the organization who is mentoring Muttnansky. So I suspect that no matter how low the ratings go they'll stick with him for quite a while.

I tried to listen to Mutt and Lou for some sports talk in the mid day but Muttansky was AWFUL. I don't know why the replaced him for Dale. Dale and Merloni would have been fine. I'm stuck with Laura Ingrim.

I put Gresh and Zo on last week, and after 5 minutes I was mad enough to turn it off again. They ran that clip of John Lackey trying to talk at a press conference and were making fun of his speaking problem. I know Toucher and Rich do a "Give me my filet of fish" song with the Lackeyism's but at least that's creative and funny. To just make fun of someone who isn't a broadcaster for his "uhhh ummmms" sounds before he speaks is just rude. I don't know... that's my two cents.

I heard that as well, they thought it was so funny they replayed it at the 2 o'clock crossover. I thought the same thing. They just took lackey's stutters cut them all together and laughed at it like it was radio gold! How does someone as smart and respected as shaugnasee spend multiple hours a week with those two 12 year olds? At least Gresh is off this week.

It is interesting that someone who grunts so much when he pauses top 'think' like Andy Gresh does, would make fun of someone else's verbal ticks. ::)

So what do we think of this week? No Gresh, pretty good, yes? I personally love it! I'm still not doing 4 hours but this ain't bad And Zo (not a fan of) is doing fine job, please 98.5 keep it up! Sooooo much better.

It's funny how subjective we all are when it comes to a topic like this. I used to hear Mutnansky on the weekends at EEI and wondered how long it would take the station to find room for him full time. I thinks he's well informed, lively and keeps the show moving at a decent pace. I thought his interviews with Dustin Pedroia on the weekends were very entertaining. As good as I think Lou Merloni is, I think he needs a "radio" guy along side to make the duo work smoothly. Plus, I think it's still a bit too early to judge this new midday show. As always, time will tell.
By the way, in my opinion, the pairing of Ordway and Holley has not been as dynamic as I think the EEI honchos were hoping for. But, again, it may just be too soon to truly judge the new Big Show. Let's give both new shows some time to get up to speed.

I enjoyed the Gresh free week on 98.5. Dan Roche and Mike Flynn did great. Flynn sounds like Kevin Kennedy. When I hear him I think I'm listening to the old Kennedy and Dibble show on XM.

I just caved in and got an iPhone, so I'll have something to listen to between 10-2 when Gresh is back.
