It's funny, but when I used to hear Muttnansky on weekends, I wondered why he got the gig over others who were more experienced and generally more personable. This move makes me believe that he has a mentor who is way up on the Entercom food chain. I have no other explanation for it. I know he doesn't get paid as much as a seasoned guy would, but can that be the only reason. It sure isn't talent, at least in my opinion.radio zombie said:There has to be someone way up in the organization who is mentoring Muttnansky. So I suspect that no matter how low the ratings go they'll stick with him for quite a while.
It's funny how subjective we all are when it comes to a topic like this. I used to hear Mutnansky on the weekends at EEI and wondered how long it would take the station to find room for him full time. I thinks he's well informed, lively and keeps the show moving at a decent pace. I thought his interviews with Dustin Pedroia on the weekends were very entertaining. As good as I think Lou Merloni is, I think he needs a "radio" guy along side to make the duo work smoothly. Plus, I think it's still a bit too early to judge this new midday show. As always, time will tell.
By the way, in my opinion, the pairing of Ordway and Holley has not been as dynamic as I think the EEI honchos were hoping for. But, again, it may just be too soon to truly judge the new Big Show. Let's give both new shows some time to get up to speed.
