Groovin 1580

Sad that the call letters, WLBJ went DARK.

They, of course, were first assigned to AM 1410 in Bowling Green,KY in 1940 then when WBVR bought the FM (96.7FM) the AM went back to the FCC the call letters traveled to Louisville...then i hear to the NORTHEAST where they are now DEAD & Gone. Sad, very SAD!

I worked @ WLBJ AM & FM/"Natural 97FM 1974-79

Good times...good memories.

If the WGVN "Groovin' 1580" format as currently programmed in Lexington would come to a Louisville signal, perhaps witht Steve Harvey mornings, it would rip the guts out of Magic 101.3 (WMJM)!

The music on AM 1580 is far more varied than WMJM (with generous helpings of '60s Soul and '70's Funk) and reminds one of XM/Sirius Channel 60 "Soul Town."
