One of the weekend hosts said Hannity was moving to WFLA but gave no specifics.What does this do to the Schnitt Show? Will Hannity be live or delay? Normally I'd be sad for a small local station getting kicked in the teeth by Clear Channel. Imagine ABC screwing 10:40 over after they signed up for Paul Harvey and all that inventory! But WWBAGenesis 10:40 has been programmed so poorly under Bruce Maduri's ownership that it's hard to feel sorry for them. Other than making a deal to get Larsen, 10:40 never developed any local shows, other thanpay-for-play on the weekends. So they have nothing to plug in here. Syndicated conservative talk in p.m. drive is pretty sparse. Medved is the next alternative, and of course Salem already has him. After that it's fifth-rate dregs like Tammy Bruce. My bet is, they pick up Dr. Laura, which is live at that time. Without Hannity, 10:40 will probably slip back into fractional share points. When 860 goes after Savage, it will get worse. Wouldn't surprise me to see them convert 10:40 to ESPN within a year. As for 1470, maybe it's time to talk to those Greeks in Tarpon Springs again.

You sure about this? 10:40 is still running all the promos. I would think that if they were about to lose Hannity then they would do only the minimum required. They will never put Dr. Laura back on. She's a has been. Have you ever listened to Tammy Bruce? I was impressed !! She's not one of those left wing wackos. If 1040 loses Hannity, they would do well to replace him with Jerry Springer. Springer puts on a decent radio show. Nothing like his TV show. Springer or Bruce would be decent for 1040.
Phil Hendrie is retiring from radio very soon to pursue an acting career. What a ****...Anyway, who's gonna fill that time slot locally? Taped hannity? Or will they (for the love of God) get rid of Schnitt? Cedric
I'd like to point out that this modification made to my post is absolutely ridiculous. What are we going to censor next??? I understand that it is your right to do this on your site, but the word I used was hardly offensive. In fact, it's used on broadcast radio every damn day. Oh, are you going to censor "damn" as well? The very least you could have done is leave the first letter in so people could see how prudish you are. Instead it appears as if I used a more vulgar word, which of course I didn't. Too much Conserva-talk in the market already. A flip to Oldies or Lib-talk would be in order here, but looking at other Genesis stations, ESPN would be the most likely course if a change is in the works. Doubt they would add progressive talkers like Springer, though that would be interesting...would they have to ax the Fox News breaks during the show?
From a programming standpoint, it would make sense to run the promos up until the day you lose the show. You're trying to influence behavior six hours in the future, not six months. Pulling the promos makes sense only as "payback", and would be counterproductive for the length of time Genesis 10:40 still has Hannity.I've heard Tammy Bruce. She is not a left wing wacko. She is a mediocre right wing wacko whose only unique schtick is being an "out of the closet" lesbian. Otherwise, it's the same old bla bla. But Bruce would still fit 10:40 better than Springer. Springer doesn't belong on conservative talk stations, as WTAM in Cleveland found out the hard way. And of course, Maduri would become a Buddhist before trading in conservative talk for liberal talk. WSRQ is the only other conservative talker that picked up Springer. Their management is all over the road with that station, Springer, Rush, Hannity, Jim Cramer, Lionel. Their only plan seems to be trying not to sound like WFLA at all costs. No wonder they continue to lag 970 by a wide margin in their home market, and can barely keep ahead of the SALEM station, 930. I have to think that when 970 gets Hannity, it will only make 1450's situation worse.

Jerry Springer has been picked up and dropped by a lot of stations... in all of six months. He couldn't last two full books on stations owned by his own syndicator! His radio show was a blip in the 2005 radio yearbooks and will be nothing more.
BTW, Dr. Laura is on WWBA sister WAMT/Orlando.

She may have seven million listeners...Dr Phil has tons of TV viewers...all of whom havent the least bit of common sense in whatever is between their ears.....As long as Americans lack that common sense, both "Doctors" will be with us until they want to stop cashing checks......

Now that the Schnitt Show is on XM, that could mean that there is going to be a change to 970's afternoon drive slot. Hannity might get the 3-6 PM slot.
Hannity live 3-6 ... then Schnitt replacing Phil Hendrie 6-9 ??? Schnitt said that when he started on XM it would be delayed 3 hours... Can't imagine them delaying Hannity so Schnitt could go live... but then again...What does 104 WWBA do with their 3-6 slot ??? Even though he is going to a better signal, the time slot will cost him listeners in this area. I wonder what Genesis will put on 1040 in his place. This is a good spot for Genesis to really make a forward leap if they do it right. Kinda reminds me when 1450 took Hannity away from 930 a couple years ago.

Oldies and talk... bad idea... that will just take the 1040 talk demo and shave off the low end... that is, the money end... Weekends maybe.... it would be better than infomercials. Instead of re-treading Howard Hewes or someone else, I'd like to see them bring in some new talk talent who wants to be the next Hannity. He can spend a couple of years building his chops, then move on to a bigger gig in a bigger market. I'm sure there are a few twentysomethings who aspire to a career in talk radio. This used to happen all the time in the Tampa market. David Gold was 29 when he took the gig at the old 570. Drew Hayes, now a big exec with CBS in Chicago, was 23 when he did PM drive talk in Tampa. Valerie Geller was still north of 30 when she worked in this market. Why not look for a new face? The move from 1450 to 930 was a bad example. Both stations lost. 1450 didn't show huge gains and 930 was just killed. Of course,that was also a function of inept management. Marcocci didn't do much better with the station than Salem did. Sarasota is a top 75 market, and most markets that size have at least one local (non-brokered) talk show. That would have been an obvious choice for930, but better to drop from a 3 to a 1 than to spend any money.Of course, this is Genesis, so we know they (really he, as in Jethro Maduri) won't do anything original or that requires spending money. Maybe they'll go back to brokering the lost Hannity hours. What's Frank Foster up to these days? What a smack in the face to Maduri, and confirmation of how poorly 10:40 is looked upon, that ABC would rather have Hannity delayed on 970 than live. This is a time for Genesis to step up or step down. Knowing Genesis, 1040 will step down.
Call me crazy, but I think 1040 could take advantage of this situation. With Hendrie gone, Schnitt still there, and delayed Hannity, 970's lineup just got weaker. During the afternoon and evening hours people are going to be turning away from 970.
Genesis needs to get their hands on somebody cheap to do some local talk. This piped in garbage is getting very old. Of course that will never happen... but in the perfect world right?

First off, when you're Genesis piping in one syndicated show after another and selling spots for a fraction of WFLA, you've got to run brokered weekends. It'd be great to hear live shows from the Safety Harbor Public Library, but not going to help Genesis make money.Seems I could be wrong, but perhaps the earlier post was referring to a complete format change. What's left on 'BA... Savage? CC could easily slot him into 9-midnight on 970, and GUL surely would take him as well, seeing that either company would get preference from TRN. Time for the weak-signaled, poorly run WWBA to become something useful... like the new home of TanTalk.
