Has KUFX set a new record?

With KUFX about to move to its 4th different frequency, this must be a new record for station moves. It started out at 94.5, moved to 104.9, moved to 98.5, now going to 102.1. Has there been any other instance where one station has kept the same call letters and same format, and moved around to so many different frequencies in one market?

I doubt 102.1 will be KUFX, as that callsign is being used on the San Jose station.

Not exactly keeping the same format, but KSOL and KSAN have both jumped around.

KSAN has appeared on 1450, TV 32, 94.9, and 107.7. KSOL has appeared on 1450, 107.7, and 98.9.

KFRC has been on 610, 106.1, 99.7, 106.9, and 1550, so I guess that's the winner.

KBAY was the first call letters for TV 20, then in the 50s radio 104.5, then 100.3, and now 94.5.

Yeah the KFRC/KBAY/KSAN call letters have bounced around a bit with various formats. While there are many calls that have been recycled by different stations, the thing that struck me about KUFX is the number of times that they have picked up and moved to a different frequency while maintaining the same format and brand.

KBRG was on 105.3, 104.9, and 100.3 with essentially the same format. So they're a close second. Also, I suspect that 102.1 won't actually be "KUFX". Of course they can do anything they want, but as long as they're calling it "K-FOX" and ratings happen via PPM the call letters don't really matter.

I remember when KUFX started out in 1991, iding as "94.5 The Fox". A few years later, They changed their moniker from "The Fox to K-Fox".

Do you think Channel 92.3 KSJO will move their intellectual property over to 98.5 frequency and move 98.5 KUFX to 102.1?

I remember that. I also remember there was a "fox" in Manteca and Santa Rosa and several other places around the country. It seemed to be "the name" to call your classic rock station at the time.

The real question is what will Clear Channel do with KKSF (The Band) against Entercom's dual signal 98.5 and 102.1 K-FOX and Cumulus' KSAN (The Bone).

I think KKSF (The Band) will be the loser in this Classic Rock War.

Completely different market, but WKLB in Boston and its country format has traveled from 105.7 to 96.9 to 99.5 to 102.5 over the past sixteen years.

The next real question is what will Cumulus do with KSAN (The Bone) against Entercom's dual signal 98.5 and 102.1 K-FOX and Clear Channel's KKSF (The Band)?

Hmmm. So you think KKSF (The Band) will outlast KSAN (The Bone)? I really think the personalities will define each of the stations. That is why i think KKSF will be the loser in this race though the potential of a KNBR-FM has me thinking. I still think, of the three, KKSF will be the one to change formats.

With this move, I am able to hear "K-Fox" again. I was able to receive its old frequency of 94.5 here in the valley but not 104.9 or 98.5.
