That and at least have the Remix Top 40 countdown too. They do play CHR and top 40 remixes as well. Would be a perfect fit.

Are you talking about Hollywoods show? If so, that airs on KTU so they wouldn't be able to air it.

jp

Isn't it a national syndicated show though like the AT40 and MTV countdown?

It is but once a station in a market locks it up no other station can play it. So since KTU airs it, Party cannot.

But wait. 87.7 is technically simulcasting a station from another market which is the hamptons-riverhead market. So Party could be able to air that show.

Nope. I don't believe that is true because they just went thru this with a different situation where Hot97 was airing an element that Party was using and Party had to give it up because of market restrictions.

jp

That's crazy. Party (105.3) is not even surveyed in the NYC market yet they have issues with a syndicated show airing for their market. I guess I'm reflecting this based from smaller markets which probably have less restrictions than the big markets.

Party should do an in house show where they can play the songs from the nyc area clubs that are generating the most buzz and mass appeal.

So PartyFM cannot air Remix Top 40 even on 105.3 only because it's in the New York market, even though KTU can't be heard that far?
But if they wanted to, KC101 and Kiss 95.7 could both air Remix Top 40 because one's in the New Haven market and the other is in the Hartford market, despite that the transmitters are only 10 miles apart. I know WRCH and WEZN both air that god-awful Delilah even though both signals cover 80% of the same area.

Could PartyFM just do their own version of the remix top 40 countdown, changing the order around and throwing in a few dance tracks?

That's what I'm saying. I know WWYL and WKRZ air the AT40 and they both cover Susquehanna County, PA, as well with WWYL and Wink 106 airing the AT40 between Binghamton and Elmira.

This morning it was Inna's Hot into Snoop Dogg. FAIL FAIL FAIL.

I have no problem with that mash-up. It's like hating "Feel It" Tiesto featuring Three 6 Mafia, Sean Kingston, and Flo-Rida

You don't? Then you must be lacking some fundamentals. Tonality, timing, etc...none of it matched between songs. Train wreck.

Remix Top 40 is owned by Clear Channel and there is no way in hell that they would allow Party to air it on 87.7. And since they own stations (KTU and Z100 to start) that reach into Suffolk there is no way that they'd clear that market either.

Could Vic do his own count down? Absolutely, if he was looking to add a countdown show. But I doubt that would be a priority right now. Who even said Vic was interested in airing this to begin with?

Also, while they are technically 2 differnet stations they are run as one with the exception of commercials and the occassional remote. There is no need for them to start running programming on one station that isn't on the other. That's just unnecessary.

I notice a couple of times at the end of a song, the dj would speak and would only mention 87.7 here in NYC. Are they also doing separate lead outs from songs on their stations?

When I spoke with Vic 2 weeks ago we talked about the different spot loads for the stations and how it was triggered. Other than that and as I said before the different remotes I'm under the impression that everything else is the same. That, of course, could have changed or I might have been under the wrong impression.

jp

I would say that what if it repeats also, It repeats all the good dance numbers, and I like them.

it sure sounds like it's two different radio stations, different remotes, different commercials, thereby different stations,obviously...
