Has santos signed off forever?

Is the sound i hear the final gasp from the progressive blowhard at the end of the dial. His time on the"revolutionradionetwork" shrank quicker than castanza when he exited the pool.

Supposedly he's on 1510 till Nov but plug may have been plug early. Lost Chi. station. but supposedly still on in some markets. 1510 prob gets more $ from Bro. Stair..

That should really rally his listeners. He has made a mockery of talk radio. Most of the time ,his listeners were lucky enough to hear the"best of"or catch video clips of interviews on line. I guess he was "live"when in the mood. His debating skills consisted of rushing the caller off the air and going to commercial.

Seems like WAZN 1470 has time available at night--unless Jeff Kline and his management at Multicultural have decided that they don't want anything to do with Santos et al. WAZN's night signal isn't as good as WRCA's but at night, 1470 does a pretty decent job of covering most of the market except for the North Shore. The day signal is not as good, but I think that during the daytime, WAZN is sold out long-term.

At one point Kline (sp?) was almost going to put prog talk on but it fell apart and WWZN got it instead. Right, they may not want to have anything to do with it. Prog talk has had a tough time in Boston--Clr Chnl had it Oct of 04 till Dec of 06 on 1200 and 1430, and 1200's signal wasn't as good as now (for many it's still not good). Santos did manage to get several syndie shows plus his own, Ch 5 news simulcast, etc.

I didn't usually tune in but he probably did the same partisan spin on politics that occurs on the Right. "Scott Brown's ads make him seem like a nice guy, with the truck, but there's no substance there,
no discussion of the issues." (Actually in his radio ads at least, he did.) Across the dial, Howie
and others have made light of Warren's "heritage", etc. and they also can do their own spin on
things...so talk radio can highlight some facts and ignore others to make their case. I have heard
some leftists call up Howie, etc. and he takes some joy in knocking them down. Heard Santos
rebut a rightie caller about Obama and the war effort, etc.

The Revolution Boston site still highlights WWZN, and mentions a bunch of shows that are no longer there. On Facebook, the Rev. Boston page says it's now an "archival" page and that people
should go to the Jeff Santos Show page. His show is on various stations across the country,
his main site says, and people can hear it on their smart phones or online. (Speaking of which I
recently got a smart phone and the paid version of the HiQ app...just recorded about 11 min. of
96.9 Irish via Tune In) When the prog talk shows started to disappear, he said it was "technical difficulties". Maybe too embarrassed to say "Dial Global didn't want to deal with us" or "we could no longer afford to run the shows". So yeah, blame it on the sat. dish or something...

Some may say that 96.9 is a bit more middle of the road (Eagan and Braude, Smerconish--endorsed Obama in 08-- but Graham certainly isn't). It took Santos to get shows like Steph. Miller, Ed Schulz, etc. on Boston radio but now it's back to the drawing board exc. for his show on WRCA. The WWZN management did indeed say when the NBC Sports Radio programming debuted that Santos will be on till Nov. but the past few days it's been Yahoo sports radio instead.

Update: the following from the Jeff Santos show facebook

Yes, we are on in the Boston area on WRCA 1330 AM Cambridge 6-7am. Have been off AM 1510 Boston temporarily and hoping to be back by end of week. Still on our other network affiliate stations as Chris mentioned (you can listen on line at www.revolutionradionetwork.com ) - Sara B.

Technical difficulties? More like the steady stream of "donations"halted to a trickle and dried up completely. One things for sure,it'll be easier to find d.b.cooper,emilia earharts plane or the lochness monster than his show.

WAZN is considering several different options. When, and IF, there is
something definite, it will be announced here...

How about Music Of Your Life (now on nights/weekends) 24/7???

Or (1955-70) oldies??

I'd put my money on dollar-a-hollar religion, ethnic or infomercial fraudsters.

Let's have New Dynasty Television air its Mandarin language broadcasts there. But not 24/7. just overnight between midnight and 6. And fill the other 18 hours with locally produced foreign language programming.

I always love the mysterious mention of "other network affiliates," with no mention at all, ever, of who or where these stations are.

Santos did have quite a few affiliates at one time. They fell to the wayside once the $$ ran out. Sad in a way. Really did himself in when he decided to run "best of"shows when he wasnt in town. A better choice would of been a guest fill-in host(a live show). Im sure advertisers were upset ponying up money and having reruns to accompany their ad. Sometimes you have to put your ego aside and put out the best product possible.

I think you are missing the fact that MoYL runs on Multicultural stations only when they cannot sell the time. Surprisingly, given WAZN's rather bizarre daytime directional pattern, which sends the bulk of the signal to the northwest--away from Boston (to protect first-adacent stations in Brockton and Fall River), Jeff has been able to sell the M-F daytime hours to a Russian-language broadcaster. I have no inside information, but given the MoYL schedule on several other MRBI stations, I don't think the parent company would object to selling a six-hour or so block of time in the evenings to a different independent producer. The parent company might, however, have a problem with a producer of Progressive talk, based on the fiasco at WNTD Chicago when AirAmerica was just getting started.
