Has the end finally come for............

TOM TOM TOM TOM

Be careful...Tom will unleash his phone number on you to discuss the matter! You will note he didn't invite me over for dinner. Interesting, and on point observation about the big fish-little pond theroy. The problem is he WAS only a big fish in his mind. He HAD sufficient talent. He WAS aqeqate, for the market size he WAS in. He WAS not great. Make no mistake, this is not bitterness. He has never done anything to me personally. An invitation to "call and discuss" my thoughts really accent his own insecurity. This is not a personal attack. It is simply the opinion of a fella who as been around a while. I also agree that he is in need of that kind of attention he USED to get, and folks at the bank probably don't find him nearly as amazing as he finds himself.

After re-reading his statement about the value, a question struck me: Was he meaning that after he left, the value shot UP to $36 Mil? I still can't quite follow the logic, but alas...

Lets be done with the whole Tom Hoyt thing. Afterall, he is old news. He is over, a memory...lets live at least in the now, if not the future...Thanks Tom for your efforts. You always seemed to know what buttons to push during Imus.

As for Q, yes, they were in the White Hole...it wasn't until 88 that they moved to the new place.

'Nuff Said.

I can only conclude that you are all former co-workers who are frustrated that you never had the same amount of recognition as Mr Hoyt. Like him or not, he knew how to create the perception that he was some sort of "media icon," even if his talents didn't merit that label. Perception is reality in radio after all, isn't it?

I don't see anyone bringing up Ray Reed on this board every month. (Class act, Ray was.)

Re: TOM TOM TOM TOM

Why is it that because we et al make comments about someone in the public eye we must be disgruntled. But, to answer your sophomoric idea, at least for me, I am not a former co-worker. Just a casual lay-listener. But it has always been my rule, as I near my second decade in the biz, that if you have to tell people that you are "Former UV Media Icon" anything...you probably weren't. It is kind of like telling someone you are famous. If you have to tell them, it kind of discounts it doesn't it?

Speaking for me, when I do endorsements, I don't remind people of who I am...kind of defeats the whole idea, doesn't it? If a client is going to pay extra for a "name" and all... and it is almost like a mid-life crisis if it is "Former..."

Why are we still talking about this topic? I mean really...but just to bring it full circle, look back to how this whole thing started, with Art leaving. THERE was an Upper Valley Media Icon. Did you one time hear him reminding people?

Didn't think so.

Good luck Art.
