Is there some reason you feel a need to keep tabs on its numbers?

I don't have time or interest to do so, but if you look at the week-by-week overall viewers of all new programs this year, you will see anything from 10-30% declines. It happens almost every year and the buzz for 2010 is that there is no new "hot" show.

Also, networks care very lttle about overall viewers. They care about adults 18-49, which H50 led Castle and Chase by healthy margins (3.5 to 3.0 to 1.7) this past Monday.

The show was HYPED so damn much by CBS. I'm wondering if it can live up to all the HYPE.
Looks like if more people keep turning it off instead of on each week, there must be a reason.

I looked forward to it....saw its debut......OK remake....will continue to tivo........(like every other tv show I follow......)

...now add in the numbers that DVR'd it.

What comes up?

To bad ratings aren't measured that way. I'm betting that Season 2 of "Hawaii Five-O" will be "Hawaii Five-NO"

Of course they hyped it. It's their job to promote their shows. What do you expect, they'll just pretend nothing new comes on? I saw promos for pretty much every show on their schedule at some point. Like any business, they allocated the resources they had to do what they felt would deliver the best possible results. It's biz 101.

If you're banking on not seeing a second season because you take it personally that they tried to make one of their shows a success, at this point, it looks like you'll be disappointed. Their demo numbers are solid, it's the top new entry of the year (and DVR ratings are measured; the extent to which marketers buy them is what's evolving).

I've never seen the new show, so I don't wish it any bad. All I know is that Networks are very impatient these days. So they better keep those ratings up if they want to stick around.

I DVR the show and watch it during the weekends. It's not the best cop show on TV, but it doesn't suck either like CSI-Miami.

Actually I thought that Detroit cop show on ABC would be a lot better than it is. I've removed that from my list of recorded programs.

What a recommendation. I hope to see your comment as a critic's quote in official CBS advertising for Hawaii Five O:

"Doesn't suck like CSI Miami"

Which is no different than any other show's mandate.

That said, it's the top entry of the season thus far, winning its time slot, and doing well in the demos. There's nothing tio require patience in that combination...it's a success out of the gate.

Maybe out the gate, but the race isn't over yet. Can you say "Fastforward"? Why do you think this show is so great and keep defending it, are you obsessed with it?

I didn't realize that I needed your approval when it comes to posting my opinion on here. Which I don't.

Yawn...no, just a lot of fun to point out the silliness of those who let some strange reaction to one TV show override the basic ability to look at things from a business logic standpoint. I'd actually, you know, watch the show before forming an opinion of it.

Flash Forward wasn't the number one show of its debut year. It never had the numbers Hawaii Five O has scored thus far. And for every "big debut/fadeaway" scenario, you can count far more "big debut/settles into a nice run" scenario.

You don't need my approval, and I wasn't making any kind of judgment. In fact, I agree with you...so actually, you have my approval...not that you need it.

I just thought your comment ("doesn't suck like CBS Miami") was amusing, that's all.

Please accept my apology. I took your remark the wrong way.

Here.... watch this. I am going to be nice and defend a show that I never watched (The new Hawaii Five-O). Here goes........

Critics hated Seinfeld out of the Gate. The Network almost canceled it. Then as time went on people saw the show for the Genius television that it was.

OK... nice mode off. Don't expect anything else nice from me for the rest of the week. ;)
